Anu Prakash

Dedicated and innovative biomedical researcher and educator with a Ph.D. in Structured Medicine (Cancer Cell Biology) and extensive postdoctoral experience in cell and molecular biology, tissue culture, and advanced microscopy. Experienced in mentoring and teaching undergraduate students through hands-on laboratory instruction and supervision. Research expertise includes cell–matrix interactions, centrosome biology, cancer biology, immunology, and clinical research with publications in Journal of Cell Science, BMC Cancer, and Heliyon. Motivated to contribute to higher education and research and development.

With a strong interdisciplinary background in cancer cell biology and microscopy, I have developed extensive expertise in 3D cell culture, organoid modeling, and advanced imaging techniques. As a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Helsinki (2024–2025), my work focused on basement membrane abnormalities in cancer initiation and anchorage-independent growth. I established 3D patient-derived organoid cultures, performed confocal and electron microscopy, and supervised undergraduate trainees in microscopy and image analysis.

During my tenure as a Visiting Fellow at the NIH, USA (2023), I investigated centrosome re-duplication and cell division using live-cell and super-resolution microscopy, gaining valuable experience in translational biomedical research.

Previously, as a Medical Technologist II at ICON Plc, Ireland (2022), I conducted flow cytometric analyses of clinical trial samples under GCP/GLP standards and operated the CELLSEARCH® System for circulating tumor cell enumeration, while mentoring junior technologists in quality assurance.

In a short-term postdoctoral position at the University of Galway (2021), I developed in ovo CAM models to evaluate a biomedical device (“Immunocell”) for ovarian cancer therapy, leading to a co-authored publication in Heliyon (2024).

My doctoral research at the University of Galway (2016–2021) examined centrosome amplification and breast cancer invasion, integrating semi-3D cultures, CAM assays, and collaborative studies, culminating in a first-author publication in Journal of Cell Science (2023).

Earlier, as a Junior Research Fellow at Amrita Centre for Nanoscience (2015–2016) and Junior Technologist at Global Health City (2014–2015), I gained clinical and diagnostic experience in flow cytometry, PCR, FISH, and immunofluorescence assays.

Collectively, my research trajectory bridges basic cell biology, translational oncology, and clinical diagnostics, emphasizing advanced microscopy, 3D modeling, and cross-disciplinary collaboration.
