BALAKA BISWAS

I am a postdoctoral researcher specializing in biotechnology, microbiology, and bioinformatics, with extensive experience in antimicrobial resistance, pathogenic bacteria, and host–microbe interactions. My research focuses on exploring bacterial survival strategies, dysbiosis, application of natural and nanocoated compounds against multidrug-resistant pathogens. I am skilled in molecular biology, genomic characterization, bioinformatics, microbiological techniques.

• Identification and Characterization of Dysbiosis-Causing Antibiotic-Resistant Bacteria.
• Predictive Analysis of Binding Affinity Between Human Cytomegalovirus Proteins and MHC-I Molecules. (Bioinformatics)
• In Silico Analysis of Binding Affinity for HIV Proteins with Human MHC-I Molecules.

These projects, under the mentorship of Dr. Agniswar Sarkar, are currently under review for publication. I have completed several trainings, internships, and workshops to prepare myself as a suitable candidate for such a position. At present, I am a Research Trainee at JIS University, focusing on protein mutations in bacteria under stress conditions.

Regarding my academics, I hold a Master’s in Biotechnology from JIS University, India (CGPA 8.61 out of 10), and a Bachelor’s in Microbiology from MAKAUT University, India (CGPA 8.83). My master’s dissertation, “Analysis of Coumarin as an Antimicrobial Agent Against Multidrug-Resistant Bacteria,” built on my independent research during my Bachelor’s thesis, “Antibacterial Activity of Guava Leaf Extract Against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus.”
