Experience
I worked for four years in the Vigilance Wing and six months as the Depot Range Officer. Range Forest Officer is the Chief Implementation Officer and the Chief Protection Officer of the Range in the Department and a Gazetted Officer in the State. The uniform of the Range Forest Officer is khaki-coloured with three pairs of stars on the shoulders. He has to conduct operations both inside and outside the forest for Intelligence activities, tactics to seize illegal materials, nab the accused, and arrest them if required. He represents the Range for the smooth conduct of the procedures of prosecution in the appropriate Courts. I led the team of Forest Flying Squad Range of Vigilance Wing by myself with or without the staff of the territorial wing and framed 31 cases with materials (including sandalwood, teak timber, venison, Sand Boa, Barn Owl, antlers, mongoose, porcupine, wild pig, parrot and peacock), domesticated elephants, accused and/or vehicles from different parts of the State. I seized Ambergris with three accused and a vehicle. This is the first case connected with Ambergris in Kerala and the significant quantity of seizures in India. I received the Commendation Certificates from the Headquarters of the Wildlife Crime Control Bureau, New Delhi and the Regional Deputy Director of WCCB, Chennai. I completed the enquiry reports on 212 complaints received in the Vigilance Wing. That includes encroachment, illicit felling of trees, bribery, sexual harassment, illicit transportation of timber, illegal possession of timber or wildlife articles, quarrying, sawmill, lease land, assigned land, boundary consolidation, illegal custody of general public in Forest Station, procrastination in the offices, seniority of staff, the complaint against the misdemeanour of staff etc.
I worked as a Deputy Range Officer. The Deputy Rnge Oficer is in charge of a Forest Station which comprises one or more Forest Sections and more Forest Beats. He is the Chief Protective Officer for that Forest Station. The uniform of the Deputy Range Officer is khaki-coloured with two pairs of stars on the shoulders. He is responsible for the efficient protection of the forest and wildlife and other Government properties through his protective staff and for the investigation and prosecution of forest offences. The cases are charged in the Station and the Deputy Range Officer is the Investigating Officer of the forest cases where the Government Loss is less than 2500. My tenure was for seven years in the post for five Forest Stations including Karimutty near Marayur which is notorious for the precious sandalwood smuggling. A Participatory Forest Management system is implemented and the local people are empowered to take part in the process of forest conservation. Scheduled Tribes are the main forest dwellers, and the Department plays a dominant role in a better standard of living with proper education and adequate food. In some cases, forest officers are the middlemen to solve the problems within their settlements. I was the Deputy Commander of the Parade team of the Department. In the history of the Department, our team won the second prize and the first prize in the Armed Category of the Republic Day Parade and Independence Day Parade respectively in 2017 in Thrissur District.
I also worked as Section Forest Officer and Beat Forest Officer in the Department.
