About Chetan Gade:

Experienced Stress Analyst in multinational work environments. Eighteen+ years’ experience in various onshore and offshore projects.

Work experience comprises of stress analysis of piping systems of topside, LNG projects, refineries, petrochemicals, Oil and gas (Hydrocarbons). Successfully handled many challenging and critical stress analysis assignments. Have effective communication skills and good leadership qualities and have good working experience on both Caesar II & Auto pipe software’s. 

Have good work experience in various organizations like Worley, Bechtel, Fluor, Technip, JGC, Aker solutions and Uhde India. Conversant with relevant international codes & standards which includes ASME, API, ASTM, BS, Shell & PTS standards. Conversant with relevant International Codes and Standards, which includes ASME, API, ASTM, BS etc. Also familiar with SHELL, PTS standards and Norwegian support standards. 

Proficiency in application software’s such as CAESAR-II, Auto PIPE, Smart Plant Review (SPR), PDMS Review Reality, Microsoft Office.  

Familiar with Piping layouts, Piping Materials and components, P&ID used in Oil & Gas processing industries and familiar with standards, specifications and practices of international consultants, licensors, and contractors. 

Experience

Preparation of project specific deliverables such as

  • Piping stress design basis.
  • Job specifications for supply of special items such as spring supports, rigid struts, sliding plates, special pipe supports.  
  • Review of Engineering / client criteria.
  • Finalization of equipment allowable nozzle loads, vessel cleats elevation and design loads and vendor data requirements in interaction with mechanical equipment department.
  • Interaction with Process department/finalization of stress critical line list.
  • Interaction with civil department and preparation of pipe rack schedule.
  • Assessment of job quantum, man-hours estimation and job schedule.
  • Interaction with layout and design team for finalizing flexible pipe routing.
  1. Main activities handled while conducting formal piping stress analysis
  • Definition and standardization of load cases based on process conditions during operations.
  • Revision of stress critical line list based on various inputs. (Such as equipment/Tank settlements, Revision of Design data by process, client comments) 
  • Provide technical assistance and evaluate works of other pipe stress engineers.
  • Ensure piping loads are within equipment allowable limit and stresses are within applicable design codes. Special care for piping connected to strain sensitive equipment such as pumps, air fin cooler, heaters, plate exchangers, AHU. 
  • Vessel local stress check as per WRC-107; nozzle flexibility checks as per WRC-297.
  • Local stress check for trunnion supports. 
  • Special treatment for lines with two-phase flow-slug flow and lines subjected to impact loads due to PSV discharge
  • Perform stress analysis of GRE piping using UKOOA and ISO 14692 code. 
  • Finalization of supporting for semi-critical lines using stress nomograph and guidelines and recommended engineering practices accepted internationally. 
  • Review of GA drawings and IFC isometrics.

  3. 03/22 – present:   Senior Piping Stress Engineer, Worley India Pvt. Ltd., Gigaplex, Navi Mumbai.

Working as piping stress engineer for various ongoing revamp projects under Shell portfolio, performed analysis of various systems including cooling water piping systems where modifications completed as per client requirement in existing facility.  Preparation of stress analysis reports, Review and checking of calculations performed by other team members.

02/20-09/20: Senior Piping Stress Engineer, Bechtel India Ltd., New Delhi, India

Project Name (type) – Rio Grande liquefied natural gas (detailed design), Texas, United States

  2. Worked as Stress lead engineer for Rio Grande LNG project in coordination with Houston office.
  3. Mainly focused on pipe rack area, Prepared pipe rack loading information for civil and structural department. Performed stress analysis of 72” line size, cryogenic LNG line connected to MCHE.
  4. Performed stress calculations of big network of lines connected to AIR COOLER, Total 56 nozzles in one calculation with header size of 54”.
  5. Performed equipment check and provided comments on various types of equipment drawings. Weekly meetings with project piping lead for updates regarding critical calculations, Manpower planning.

02/16-02/20: Senior Pipe Stress Engineer, Fluor Daniel India Pvt. Ltd., New Delhi, India

Project Name (type) – 1. Future Growth Project-Future Wellhead Pressure Management Project (FGP-WPMP) (Detailed Design)

2. Liquefied natural gas (LNG) export facility in Kitimat, British Columbia, Canada, Joint venture between Fluor and JGC Corporation. Location-Canada (Detailed Design)

 

Successfully worked as stress lead in 3GP utility area comprising of different modules and stick built area with a team of nine stress engineers. Worked in new concept of modularization including transportation analysis in one of the world’s largest project ‘Tengizchevroil’. Delivered almost 12000+ fabrication isometrics as per project-scheduled targets. Worked on LNG Canada project as a stress area lead in work share mode for different operating centres and supporting stress analysis activities Weekly meetings with project team for updates regarding critical calculations and fabrication isometrics planning. Man-power planning.

Seconded to Synergy Oil & Gas by Prinsip Engineering, Malaysia, till Jan.2015, From Jan.2015 to Feb.2016 worked on payroll of Synergy oil and gas engineering sdn.bhd. Worked as a Piping and Stress Lead Engineer. Review and optimization of stress calculations completed by team members. Completed assigned tasks in stipulated time frames. Preparation and review of ITB documents for project cost estimation with man-hour’s distribution. 

  • Provide consultation to Chiyoda Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. Completed a critical assignment of stress analysis for large bore        piping of additional lines in existing plant at Petron Port Dickson refinery.
  • Provide loading information and additional support requirement for the existing and new piping.
  • Visit to Petron, Port Dickson refinery to verify the existing pipe routing and to confirm available support location for newly added piping. Attended and qualified safety training and test conducted on safety briefing sessions conducted by HSE department at Petron Site.
  • Review and approve ITB documents and proposals prepared by team members for bidding.
  • Performed and checked Dynamic Analysis (Time History Analysis) of Methanol line around the Jetty of Mega Methanol Plant 2. Planned and performed pipe surge analysis on the methanol loading lines in the event of MLA Emergency Release System (ERS) valves and Emergency Shutdown (ESD) valves closure within the set closing time.
  • Coordination with process team for the pipe net data that is used for time history analysis calculations.
  • Performed Pipe stress analysis of firewater piping (GRE piping) system of MLJ3 wellhead platform on the Maharaja Lela South Project.
  • Review of pipe stress report comprising CAESAR II computer analytical results, input parameters and associate documents/drawings for Client review (IFR) stage.
  • Review of reply prepared for client’s comments on technical documents.

05/13-09/14: Senior Pipe Stress Engineer, Technip Geoproduction Sdn. Bhd., Kualalumpur Malaysia.

Project Name (type) – 1. PFLNG-Petronas Floating LNG, FPSO, Location Malaysia (Offshore-Detailed Design) 

 

Seconded to Technip Geoproduction Sdn.Bhd. by Prinsip Engineering, Malaysia. Worked on world’s first floating LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) platform for ‘PETRONAS’ in PFLNG project. PFLNG project module wise, distributed to another operating centre of company in Jakarta, Indonesia (JOC). Assigned role of ‘Stress Coordinator’ for JOC area. Challenging task assigned to close all Technical/Engineering issues without major changes in piping design and routing.

  • Reviewed and optimized stress calculations, worked on critical calculations and closed all major technical issues such as huge loads transferred to structure for design, Design of flare stack lines.
  • Performed the stress calculation of critical & challenging system of Liquefaction area like HP Compressor, Expander –Compressor (Compander), Cold Box, Main Cryogenic Heat Exchanger (MCHE) & Sub cool Cryogenic Heat Exchanger (SCHE), Amine Regenerator, Stabiliser, reboiler etc. and qualified all the Nozzle loads in all the stringent conditions.
  • Preparation of detailed drawing for guide support of Reboiler in compact structure design. 
  • Review of stress calculations with respect to stress mark ups, impractical routing requests, revised and design optimum layout with feasible routing. 
  • Coordination with support team to check support feasibility in available space. 
  • Coordination with structural team for displacement related issues and for displacement data for stress team members to use in Caesar calculations, coordination with Mechanical department for guide loads due to updated structural displacements. 
  • Performed stress analysis of Wet flare header and Vent header on pipe rack and flare stack area. Preparation of loading information as an input for structural design. (Including blast loads) 
  • Stress analysis of line connected to Turret and performed natural frequency check. 
  • Assigned main role for checking and analysis of all lines connected to the silencers of liquefaction area, prepared guidelines for PSV lines supporting and silencer supporting with optimum piping routing. Communications with silencer vendors through mechanical department regarding silencer supporting and nozzle loads issues.

Seconded to JGC, Japan by Shotam Consultant Pvt. Ltd. Worked as a ‘Stress Engineer’ for process area of Barzan Onshore Project. Responsible for all the calculations of process area. Project site location: Ras Laffan Industrial City, Qatar. 

  • Worked on most critical calculation of large bore piping, size up to 98”-Tail Gas Calculation. 
  • Stress analysis of lines connected to furnace, Incinerators, columns, pressure vessels and exchangers. 
  • Review and checking of completed stress calculations by team members of associate companies of JGC. 
  • Analysis of lines connected to cold box with negative temperature up to -146 deg.C. 
  • Stress analysis of severe cyclic condition system. 
  • Stress analysis of jacketed piping.
