Dr Mohammad Javed Ansari

Associate professor in Pharmaceutics with 15 years of teaching experience

My name is Mohammad Javed Ansari, born in Mau, Uttar Pradesh, India on 10th September 1978. I graduated from College of Pharmacy, Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi, India (Accredited in grade “A” by NAAC), with Bachelor of Pharmacy in 2002. Later, completed Master degree in Pharmaceutics in 2004 under the supervision of Prof. Kanchan Kohli (Thesis title: “Development and evaluation of oral dosage form of curcumin via cyclodextrin complexation), and earned PhD in 2008 from the same university, under the supervision of Prof. P. L. Sharma, Director Department of Pharmaceutical Medicine, Jamia Hamdard (Thesis title: “Comparative bioavailability of three different brands of levofloxacin in healthy human volunteer” completed in collaboration with Ranbaxy Pharmaceutical Laboratories (now Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. India). 

I joined Al-kharj University in February 2009, as an assistant professor in the department of pharmaceutics, where, he served as head of the pharmaceutics department, from October 2009 to October 2015. I have more than six years of administrative experiences of supervising the pharmaceutics department where I performed academic coordination, managed academic activities such as course development, faculty load distribution, course alignment, laboratory and lecture schedules, conduction of internal evaluations.

I am currently working as an associate professor, in the department pf pharmaceutics, college of pharmacy, Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University, Saudi Arabia. My teaching interests include dosage form design, drug delivery systems, Physical pharmacy, biopharmaceutics, Pharmacokinetics, and sterile dosage forms like parenteral and ophthalmic products.

My area of research includes: Development and formulation of drug delivery systems for poorly soluble drugs with emphasis on solubility and bioavailability enhancement techniques such as cyclodextrin complexation, solid dispersions, micronization, nanonization, energyless microemulsion formation and self-nanoemulsifying drug delivery systems. 

I have hands on experiences and expertise on methodologies and  techniques such as physicochemical characterization of drugs and formulations using UV, FTIR, DSC, XRD; Analytical and bioanalytical method developments and validation of techniques such as UV, HPLC; Quantitative assay / evaluations of drugs and formulations in matrix and plasma by HPLC; Physicochemical modifications of drugs; In vitro characterizations of drugs and dosage forms using dissolution, disintegration, diffusion, permeation, particle size estimation; and Pharmacokinetics, bioequivalence/ bioavailability estimations. 

I  have published more than 80 papers in reputed journals, authored few book chapters and has been serving as reviewer and editorial board member of various scientific pharmaceutical journals.
