He has established successfully running, high volume Nephrology departments at various hospitals. These include Medanta – The Medicity (Gurugram), Fortis Hospital (New Delhi), Apollo Hospitals (New Delhi), SGPGI (Lucknow) and Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (Srinagar).

His expertise in the field of renal transplant is without parallel. He has successfully carried out over 5000 transplants for patients around the globe. Dr. Kher has been awarded fellowships of Indian Society of Nephrology and Royal College of Physicians, Edinburg.

Dr. Vijay Kher has also conducted extensive research in his field and has over 180 publications in peer reviewed journals. He is also devoted to teaching and has delivered more than 350 lectures at national & international events.
