About Kasim Balarabe:

  • I am a trained specialist in law with fifteen years of post-university experience. I have been teaching at the university level for the past nine and half years. I hold a PhD in international human rights law from Maastricht University and two master's degrees, one from VU Amsterdam in law and politics of international security and another from the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights (a joint degree of the University of Geneva and Graduate Institute Geneva).
  • I have taught several law courses at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including public international law, international human rights law, international humanitarian law, international refugee law and law and justice in a globalising world and other courses assigned by the university based on institutional need.
  • I have supervised several postgraduate and undergraduate students in my fields of competence and published two books and articles in the areas of international human rights and humanitarian law.
  • My love and commitment to teaching and mentoring students led to my recognition as the best law lecturer by the management and students of the two universities where I previously worked. Additionally, my students continue to evaluate me as a good lecturer in their feedback to the university at the end of each semester, including the students of the institution where I currently serve as an adjunct professor.
  • I have served as the Head of the Department of Public and Comparative Law at Kampala International University, where I supervised 24 staff and coordinated the development and revision of curriculum and pedagogy.
  • At the Jindal Global Law School, where I currently work, in addition to the core courses assigned by the university, I have also developed a course titled international humanitarian law in theory and practice, which I have been teaching for the last three years. I am an Associate Dean on international collaborations and have served as course coordinator of public international law and professional ethics and bar bench for two years.
  • I enjoy working with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds, and I love experiencing new cultures and have travelled to 47 countries.
  • I like to think of myself as a fair, democratic, and responsible person as I listen to my supervisors, students, and team members while working in a collaborative environment.
