Working in UPTSU-IHAT as State Specialist

I am responsible for providing techno managerial and mentoring support to the district team in leading the design, implementation and review of community interventions related to family planning, maternal, new born health and nutrition outputs and outcomes including ensuring linkages between the community and facilities linkages. I am also responsible for mentoring and capacity building support to FLWs and their supervisory structure on RMNCH and nutrition intervention, ensuring the rollout and use of digital recording and tracking of clients and other responsibilities.

 

Key Deliverables expected from the Job Role

  • Improve coverage, utilization and quality of Integrated Village Health and Nutrition Days (CiVHSND)
  • Improve tracking of High Risk Pregnancies (HRP), Low Birth Weight (LBW)newborns and MICYN practices
  • Reduce home delivery pockets in select geographical areas

Worked in Oxfam India as Programme officer at Lucknow office

Key responsibilities include:

  1. To lead and execute the Social Inclusion project at state level under the theme of Health and Education and be responsible for designing and delivering relevant project strategies and support it through specialist advice.
  2. Establish and strengthen alliances with state level networks and key stakeholders, with a focus on Women including Dalit, Adivasi and Muslims. 
  3. To develop and nurture strong collaboration between different groups, civil society networks and other stakeholders to achieve objectives of social inclusion.
  4. Monitor and ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of all project activities and partners to ensure quality of service provision and alignment of priorities, including sub-grant management, financial and programmatic oversight, administration and procurement, and regular on-site supervision visits. 
  5. To prepare quality and accurate reports in line with project proposal that meet the requirements of the donor contract
  6. Advocacy for policy analysis, lobbying and engaging with government at local and state level

Worked in PACS Uttar Pradesh office as a Senior Programme Executive 

Poorest Areas Civil Society Programme [PACS] is an initiative of the UK Government’s Department for International Development (DFID) in partnership with 225 civil societies across 7 poorest states of India. Its focus is to facilitate socially excluded communities (SC/ST/Muslims/Women/PwD) to claim their rights and entitlements more effectively. 

Key Responsibilities: Lead & Manage 44 (19 lead- 25 network) CSO projects of Uttar Pradesh which are working with the key focus i.e. to ensure rights to basic services (health and nutrition) in 17 districts.

  • Programme management: To facilitate CSO partners in Planning, Implementation & Budgeting activities as required. To monitor the overall progress of project at field level.
  • Grant management: To analyze and ensure timely submission of grant utilization reports and verification of activities as per planned. Coordinate with National finance team whenever necessary for grant release and so on.
  • CSOs Capacity building: To analyse and facilitate required trainings to CSO partners and its staff. Handhold the organization in planning different activities, research and studies, and in streamlining their systems on reporting, documentation and data tracking system.
  • To establish better linkages with government department and other stake holders for better advocacy at policy level as well as implementation level in favor of excluded groups
  • Support New Initiatives & Interventions within PACS Extension phase to expand its legacy and sustain it in the future.

Worked with Find Your Feet-UK (India office), as a Program Officer 

Find Your Feet is a UK based organization working in partnership with poor communities in rural India and Malawi to bring about real and long lasting improvements to their lives focusing primarily on rural livelihoods, health and nutrition of women.

 

Other organizational responsibilities included

 

- Partnership Management Identify potential NGO partners and explore collaboration platforms with National and international NGOs 

- Develop Partnerships, Assess Training needs, organize centralized & fields based trainings and facilitate linkages with other market stakeholders.

- Ensure Sustainability of projects by developing project proposals, policy recommendations, periodic monitoring and reviews and facilitate community ownership in the programme

- Facilitate intra-partner learning through exposure visits, trainings & workshops.

- Strengthen systems and procedures of partner NGOs

- Build Alliances/ liaison with Government departments, PRI institutions, training institutions, networks, issue based networks, media, corporate houses, training institutes

- Advocacy/publications: Guide and train NGO staff, communities on rights based advocacy. coordinate regular interface with legal rights agencies, networks and individual activists. Guide in publication of periodic newsletter of FYF-India program

- Supportive Supervision: Provide monitoring and learning support to the team and the partners

- Report writing and Documentation: Design and write all quarter, half yearly and annual reports for the donors and Find Your Feet 

 

 

 

June 2006 to 2008

Worked in a USAID funded Health Project -PSP-One as an Asst. Program Manager in Lucknow from (H.O. Delhi)

                     

DIMPA program being implemented by Private Sector Partnership – One (PSP-One) is a global project funded by the United States Agency for International Development(USAID).It provides technical leadership to expand the private sector’s involvement in the sustainable provision of quality reproductive health products & services. 

Private Sector Partnerships–One (PSP-One) also supported SAATHIYA program –a special initiative focused on addressing the Family Planning and Reproductive health needs of young married couples – The Youth Friendly Initiative USAID, Washington funded Youth Friendly Initiative in India is to createa sustainable mechanism to improve contraceptive seeking knowledge and behaviors among married youth aged 16-24 in Lucknow.

-   Develop, implement and manage database of providers in project cities

  •  Supervise & manage field team in project cities, including monitoring of counseling & other promotional activities
  • Co-Facilitating training sessions of medical & paramedical staff on FP methods

Worked with ORG-Centre for Social Research, a Division of AC NIELSEN ORG-MARG Pvt. Ltd. as  Senior Consultant in World Food Programme study.

      

The main focus of the study was on children reflected in the key health & dev. indicators like high morbidity & infant mortality rate, higher incidence of malnutrition & nutrition related diseases, lower literacy & higher school dropouts rates. The research project interventions were to know why more than ½ of the infant deaths occurred within the first month from birth and it was estimated that more than half of the children under the age of 4 in the country were malnourished & 30% severely underweight

Under the support to ICDS for improving the nutritional status of children & women, WFP is providing nutritious supplementary & fortified food rations to women & children

 

Key Responsibilities:            

  • Coordinating data collection, field execution & management, and undertake field visits to monitor the data quality.

Engaged as a Social Development Officer in Dept. of Forests, Uttar Pradesh, under United Nations “World Food Programme” scheme 

 

World food Programme’s prime objective was to address hunger problem of malnourished children & women in rural areas, particularly the discrimination faced by women & children & the harmful impact it has on malnutrition & vulnerability. Female child & infants identified as most vulnerable Involved in Programme to address these issues at state & Dist. Level

Key Responsibilites:

  • Extensive touring to prepare microplans for village development with the help of gender analysis tools and PLA & PRA techniques.
  • Involved in participatory planning, awareness building, working with women identify activities to meet their needs, income generating activities with special attention on improving their social status and ensuring their participation in decision making.

Served as a Project Coordinator in UNICEF’s “UMANG” -Upgrading Marriageable Age Nutrition & Growth Project in urban Lucknow  in collaboration with Vatsalya, (a leading NGO in Health sector, Lucknow

 

UMANG project was initiated in response to the grave health & nutrition situation of adolescent girls, especially in the context of their anaemia status in the state of UP.
