🌱 Reflecting on My First Internship Experience at TERI 🌱

I am thrilled to share my invaluable journey during my internship at TERI (The Energy and Resources Institute), working under the guidance of Dr. Arindam Datta and Mr. R. Suresh. This experience not only marked the completion of my M.Sc. dissertation work but also opened up a world of insights in the field of air quality research.

My research project centered on the "Spatial Variations of Annual Air Pollution Emissions from Transport Activities in Rishikesh City." This endeavor involved a rigorous field survey, an extensive literature review, hands-on lab work, and the acquisition of valuable insights into dispersion and receptor modeling. I am profoundly grateful to the entire air quality team for their unwavering support and guidance throughout this journey.

The findings of my study have revealed significant insights. Notably, the total tailpipe estimated emissions in parts of Rishikesh.

Additionally, the study shed light on the pressing issue of road dust and the resuspension of particulate matter in Rishikesh. The data highlighted that the increasing number of vehicle mobility and poor road surface conditions and unpaved roads exacerbate the problem, constantly releasing dust particles into the atmosphere, posing health risks to the community.

These findings underscore the urgent need for action to abate severe health problems in the future.

I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to TERI, Dr. Arindam Datta, Mr. R. Suresh, and the entire air quality team for this enriching experience. It has been an honor to contribute to the ongoing efforts to improve air quality and public health in Rishikesh. I am excited to carry these learnings forward and continue making a positive impact in this field.
