Aquis Search is currently assisting our client, a reputed wealth manager in their search for a Head of Litigation in Mumbai.

Overseeing and managing all legal matters related to litigation and dispute resolution within the organization including Exchange complaints and IGRP arbitration. This role is crucial for ensuring compliance with regulations, protecting the company's interests, and minimizing legal risks.

Litigation Strategy and Management:

• Develop and implement effective strategies for handling litigation and legal disputes.
• Manage and oversee all aspects of litigation, from initiation to resolution.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external legal counsel to gather necessary information and evidence.

Risk Assessment and Mitigation:

• Identify potential legal risks and provide proactive advice to senior management.
• Develop risk mitigation strategies and policies to minimize exposure to legal challenges.

Regulatory Compliance:

• Stay updated on financial regulations and industry standards relevant to the company's operations.
• Ensure that the company is in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

Legal Research and Analysis:

• Conduct legal research on relevant issues and provide legal opinions.
• Analyze and interpret laws, regulations, and rulings affecting the financial services industry.

Dispute Resolution:

• Explore alternative dispute resolution mechanisms, such as mediation or arbitration, when appropriate.
• Negotiate settlements and agreements with opposing parties when feasible.

Team Leadership:

• Manage a team of legal professionals, providing guidance and support in handling litigation matters.
• Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment.

Reporting and Documentation:

• Prepare and present regular reports to senior management on the status of litigation matters.
• Maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation of all legal proceedings

Ideal candidate:

Qualified lawyer to serve as an in-house litigation counsel who is dynamic, hands on and mature professional and who takes a commercial and pragmatic approach to complex issues. In-depth knowledge of financial regulations and compliance requirements.

Experience:

12-15 years of core experience of handling commercial litigation and Exchange related arbitrations. Preferred from financial services or regulations background.
