Senior Backend Software Engineer

We are looking for a talented engineer to join the Mobile Apps Team and contribute to the development of new features and services. This role requires close collaboration with the Product Owner, Area Architect, and team members to clarify business needs and technical requirements.

In a challenging Agile environment, you will work closely with other teams to introduce new features and improvements to the mobile apps, enhancing the experience for over 11 million customers.

As a Senior Backend Software Engineer:

• You will participate in team discussions and decisions, contributing to the technical and architectural direction.
• You will develop and deliver applications for one of Europe's most successful pet e-commerce platforms.
• You will be involved in the entire software development life cycle, from discovery through coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance.

Daily, you will have opportunities to learn and grow your skills, mastering state-of-the-art technologies and practices such as AWS, Microservices, Docker, and more.

The Mobile Apps are our primary responsibility, including iOS and Android apps, as well as the services that power them. This encompasses all aspects of the customer journey, from onboarding to cart and checkout.

Mandatory Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience with Python development.
• Strong expertise in Flask or Django.
• Experience with DevOps tools and practices (container orchestration, CI, monitoring, and alerting, Terraform).
• Understanding of the full architectural landscape and ability to investigate and implement new features independently.
• A natural inclination towards delivering high-quality solutions.
• Experience with unit-testing.
• Interest in growing as a software engineer, participating in the entire development cycle (frontend, backend, testing, DevOps).
• Experience working within Agile practices and knowledge of Agile values and principles.
• Able to mentor less experienced colleagues and structure/clarify requirements together.
• Empathetic and able to build strong relationships.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Java and Spring framework.
• Experience working with Microservices.
• Cloud expertise (AWS, Lambda, RDS, SNS, SQS).
• Experience with TDD approach.
• Experience in e-commerce domain.

Your Responsibilities

• Participate in solution investigation, estimations, planning, alignment with other teams.
• Design, implement, deliver, and support backend solutions (restful web services) using micro-services architecture.
• Work closely with other teams to integrate their solutions in the mobile apps.
• Promote and implement tests automation (mainly unit tests and integration tests with opportunity to contribute to e2e tests and performance tests).
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for continuous integration, development, and deployment.
• Deploy applications on the cloud, using technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, and Terraform.
• Work collaboratively with the team in an agile environment, engaging in activities like code reviews, pair programming, knowledge sharing, and incident coordination.
• Maintain existing applications and reduce technical debt.
