Under general direction, modify or create deliverables and perform assignments of a design nature by applying basic engineering principles and established design practices to develop complex design concepts. Provide technical guidance and may provide direction to other engineering professionals.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Work extensively on AVEVA E3D as BIM Coordinator
    • During the engineering design phase of an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) project, a BIM (Building Information Modeling) Coordinator is tasked with several specific responsibilities to ensure the smooth integration and management of BIM processes. Their role is pivotal in enhancing collaboration, improving design accuracy, and facilitating the seamless transition from design to construction. Here are some of the key tasks typically handled by a BIM Coordinator during this phase:
    • Model Coordination and Management: Overseeing the development and integration of multidisciplinary BIM models. This includes coordinating the efforts of various design teams (architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, piping, etc) to create a cohesive and comprehensive project model.
    • Standardization and Protocols: Implementing and enforcing BIM standards, protocols, and workflows. This involves setting up templates, naming conventions, and modeling guidelines to ensure consistency and quality across the project. This also required reviewing the contract and client requirements to ensure internal and client standards are being met.
    • Clash Detection and Resolution: Identifying and resolving conflicts between different design elements / models early in the process to prevent costly changes and delays during construction.
    • Design Review and Validation: Assisting in the review of BIM models at various stages of the design process. Ensuring that models meet project requirements, client specifications, and industry standards.
    • Documentation and Reporting: Generating detailed reports from BIM models, including drawings, schedules, and material takeoffs. Providing documentation for design reviews, client presentations, and coordination meetings.
    • Communication and Collaboration: Facilitating effective communication among project stakeholders (design teams, contractors, clients) through regular meetings and the use of collaborative platforms. Ensuring that all parties have access to the latest models and information.
    • Change Management: Tracking changes in design and model updates, ensuring that all relevant stakeholders are informed of modifications and that the BIM model remains a true reflection of the project design.
    • By handling these tasks, BIM Coordinators play an essential role in optimizing the design process, minimizing errors, and laying a solid foundation for the subsequent phases of the EPC project.
    • Minimum 10-15 years experience as a BIM coordinator
