What are we looking for?

Key responsibilities

• Work with development teams and product managers to ideate software solutions.
• Design client-side and server-side architecture.
• Build the front-end of applications through appealing visual design.
• Develop and manage well-functioning databases and applications.
• Write effective APIs.
• Test software to ensure responsiveness and efficiency.
• Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade software.
• Create security and data protection settings.
• Build features and applications with a mobile-responsive design.
• Write technical documentation.
• Work with data scientists and analysts to improve software.
• Develop, test, and maintain robust, scalable, and high-quality software solutions using Python, React, and relevant libraries/frameworks.
• Optimize applications by leveraging suitable libraries and integrating APIs.
• Create and maintain robust, automated unit tests to ensure system reliability and performance.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to deliver end-to-end solutions.
• Continuously learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies to ensure project success.
• Experience in mobile applications is a plus.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Python backend Developer or similar role with 7+ years of experience in Python backend development.
• Familiarity with common stacks.
• Solid understanding of system design.
• Proficient in integrating APIs into Python (FAST API, Flask) applications and API testing.
• Familiarity with databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB) and UI/UX design.
• Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Basic understanding of MLOps is preferred but not mandatory.
• Ability to work in the Canadian time zone (UTC/GMT -6 hours).
• Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering or relevant field are preferred.
