    The opportunity

    We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Associate Director with expertise in Database Operations and Database Management. The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading a hybrid team of database professionals, overseeing the operations of diverse database technologies, including Oracle DB, Microsoft DB, SAP HANA DB, and other enterprise databases. The role requires strong people management, vendor management, leadership, and stakeholder management skills, coupled with the ability to drive operational excellence in a 24x7 environment. The candidate should be a thought leader, providing strategic initiatives in the database space, and demonstrating technology leadership in a hybrid and mixed-vendor environment.

    How you'll spend your day

    Team Leadership:
    Lead and manage a team of database administrators, providing guidance, mentorship, and fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
    Ensure the development and retention of a skilled and motivated team.
    Multi-Database Technology Management:
    Oversee the operations of diverse database technologies, including Oracle DB, Microsoft DB, SAP HANA DB, and other enterprise databases.
    Drive best practices for installation, configuration, and maintenance of databases to ensure optimal performance.
    Operational Excellence:
    Manage 24x7 operations, ensuring the availability, reliability, and performance of all database systems.
    Implement and enforce rigorous operational procedures and standards.
    Security and Compliance:
    Ensure the security and compliance of SAP systems, implementing and maintaining best practices for user access, authorization, and data protection.
    Collaborate with the security team to conduct regular audits and assessments to address any vulnerabilities.
    Stakeholder Management:
    Engage with internal and external stakeholders, understanding their database needs and aligning operations accordingly.
    Communicate effectively with non-technical stakeholders, providing updates on database operations and addressing concerns.
    Thought Leadership:
    Provide thought leadership in the database space, staying abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices.
    Drive innovation and continuous improvement initiatives in database management.
    Technology Leadership:
    Lead the adoption and integration of new database technologies and solutions to meet evolving business requirements.
    Collaborate with IT leadership to develop and implement strategic technology roadmaps.
    Manage Projects and Initiatives in DB Space:
    Lead and execute strategic initiatives in the database space, such as database consolidation, migration projects, and technology upgrades.
    Drive automation and efficiency gains in database operations including AI/ML/Analytics based projects and activities requiring in-depth experience of data domain.
    Hybrid and Mixed-Vendor Team Environment:
    Manage and collaborate with hybrid and mixed-vendor internal teams, ensuring seamless integration and coordination of database operations.
    Oversee vendor relationships and contracts related to database technologies and related areas.
    Collaboration with IT Management and IT Leadership:
    Work closely with IT leadership to align SAP operations with broader organizational goals and objectives.
    Provide regular updates on the performance, challenges, improvements within the SAP BASIS landscape.
    Be a thought leader in SAP technology area and drive improvements, initiatives within team and with collaboration with Teva IT management.
    Continuous Improvement:
    Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation in Database area, driving efficiency and reducing manual efforts. Drive and Lead improvement initiatives.
    Stay abreast of industry best practices and emerging technologies to ensure the DB landscape remains innovative and aligned with business needs.

    Your experience and qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
    Extensive experience (14+ years) in database operations and management, with expertise in Oracle DB, Microsoft DB, SAP HANA DB, and other enterprise databases like MySQL, Postgre etc,
    Proven people management and leadership skills, with a track record of leading high-performing teams.
    Project Management PMP, IT Service Management, ITIL certifications preferred.
    Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.
    Experience in operational 24x7 management of critical database systems.
    Good understanding of business applications like SAP, Microsoft, Pharma apps and underlying technology infrastructure including Cloud infrastructure, Security, Networking etc.
    Expertise in catering to Security, Audit, Compliance, and regulatory needs in Pharma/related industries.
    Demonstrated thought leadership and technology leadership in the database space.
    Strategic thinker with the ability to drive initiatives and innovations.
    Familiarity with hybrid and mixed-vendor environments.
