    Description

    Purpose of Role:

    PEO (Platform Engineering and Operations) is responsible for the engineering and operations towards the platform (infrastructure) of Gentrack's core products Junifer and Velocity on a global scale.

    The team are based in the APAC, and EMEA regions and work together as a logical group to develop, build, test, deploy, operate, and manage hosted solutions for our customers.

    In the role of Database Administrator Senior SQL Server, you will be applying your specialist technical expertise and experience in SQL Server to ensure our databases are maintained and optimized using best practice in operational excellence, performance efficiency, security, reliability, and cost.

    You will hold a central role in assisting with escalations for troubleshooting, resolution, root cause analysis and preventative action towards customer database issues.

    Where required, you will mentor and collaborate other DBAs and engineering staff across the business to ensure as a team that we meet our service goals.

    You will be based from India, working to UK business hours, collaborating and supporting the customers and Gentrack teams in the UK.


    Principal Responsibilities / Accountabilities:
    Engineering

    • Contributing within scrums including roadmaps, sprint planning, and retrospectives as part of the PEO team.
    • Taking a technical lead on developing, building, and testing activities for platform architectures with a focus on database technologies.
    • Creating, updating, and reviewing documentation of engineering processes, procedures, and system information relating to database activities.
    • Performing auditing, reporting, and other governance activities to uphold engineering standards and compliance of database technologies.
    • Identifying opportunities for engineering improvements.
    • Completing engineering proposals for analysis and decision making.
    Operations

    • Taking a technical lead on deploying, operating, and managing activities related to platforms for database technologies.
    • Creating, updating, and reviewing documentation of operations processes, procedures, and system information relating to database activities.
    • Performing auditing, reporting and other governance activities to uphold operations standards and compliance of databases technologies.
    • Identifying opportunities for operational improvements.
    • Completing operations proposals for analysis and decision making.
    • Responding to database related platform incidents, performing technical investigations, resolutions, and reviews.
    • Pro-actively monitoring and maintaining service health and performance of databases.
    • Be a point of escalation for the on-call support rota to uphold 24/7 customer platform support.
    • Participating in scheduled work out-of-hours and standby support coverage on occasion.

    Technical Experience and Skills


    • Minimum of 7 years of experience in a similar role as a Database Administrator using SQL Server.
    • Working within ITIL service management frameworks and developing process improvements.
    • Working within agile methodologies with scrum teams, sprints, and kanban boards.
    • Working within a Dev-Sec-Fin-Ops culture and practice.
    • Technical skills.o Advanced SQL Server 2016+ Standard or Enterprise Edition.o Basic system administration of Windows Server 2016+.o Basic networking understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, and firewalls.o Basic AWS cloud administration, RDS is desirable.o Basic Atlassian service use of JIRA and Confluence.o Basic source control of Git, Bitbucket is desirable.
