Space-MAPTM represents a revolutionary end-to-end infrastructure for sustainable space operations, offering a comprehensive space situational awareness (SSA) solution that simplifies and strengthens satellite operations in the face of the rapidly expanding commercialization of space.Space-MAPTM is powered by space surveillance & tracking data gathered by advanced ground-based and space-based telescopes.Digantara is looking for a Senior Opto-Mechanical DesignEngineer to design mechanical and opto-mechanical systems for its ground and space-based optical systems. The engineer will be designing advanced mechanical and opto-mechanical systems for Space Surveillance Telescopes and validating the performance of the designs using mechanical simulations.

    Ideal SkillsWe are ideally looking for someone with extensive expertise in designing opto-mechanical systems for satellite payloads or ground telescopes for high resolution astronomy.
    Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree (B.E/B.Tech) in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field. M.Tech or Ph.D. degree preferred.
    • 6+ years proven experience in designing reliable opto-mechanical components and performing complex FEA simulations for structural and thermal analysis in the field of space and defence sector.

    Requirements
    • Strong proficiency in CAD software (e.g., Ansys, SolidWorks or Creo) for geometry preparation and mesh generation.
    • Proficiency in simulation tools (ANSYS, Siemens, Solidworks or COMSOL)
    • In-depth understanding of engineering principles, materials science, and mechanical behavior.
    • Demonstrated expertise in applying FEA techniques to solve practical engineering problems and optimize product designs.
    • Familiarity with defence industry standards and regulations governing mechanical systems and components.

    Preferred Qualities
    • Experience with a complete product life cycle of a space telescope will be a big plus
    • Proficiency with space standards.
    • Expertise in building deployable systems.
    • Hands on experience in opto-mechanical assembly and alignment.
    • Knowledge of optical design.

    Responsibilities
    • Lead the design and analysis of mechanical systems and components using FEA software packages.
    • Conduct structural, and thermal analyses to evaluate product performance and reliability.
    • Develop and implement advanced FEA methodologies to optimize designs and solve engineering challenges.
    • Collaborate with optical design engineers to provide input on product design improvements and modifications.
    • Generate detailed engineering reports and documentation to communicate analysis results and recommendations.
    • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance on FEA techniques and best practices.
    • Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in FEA technology to continuously improve analysis methodologies.
