Job description
The Manager will be responsible for establishing and developing vendor networks for R&D and product development requirements, including prototyping, mechanical and electronic fabrication, and pilot-scale activities. The role bridges the R&D and procurement functions ensuring that early-stage development partners can scale up to production vendors when needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Timely completion and expedition of R&D Sourcing activities.
- Identify and develop vendors for R&D activities such as:
- Mechanical fabrication (sheet metal, wire cutting, machining, etc.)
- Electronics assembly, prototyping, PCB manufacturing
- 3D printing, design validation, and rapid prototyping
- Evaluate and onboard suppliers capable of scaling from prototype to production.
- Handle purchase of R&D-specific tools, software licenses, and engineering services.
- Negotiate costs, timelines, and quality standards with vendors.
- Maintain documentation and approvals in coordination with internal teams.
- Collaborate with engineering and design teams to translate project requirements
into purchase specifications.
- Coordination with internal strategic teams to leverage existing vendors
Preferred Profile:
- Experience in an Engineering & Development (E&D) or product development setup.
- Strong vendor development and sourcing background.
- Familiarity with R&D workflows and prototype-to-production transitions.
- Working knowledge of procurement systems (SAP preferred).
- Excellent negotiation and project coordination skills.
