    Role Description & Qualifications

    This is a full-time on-site role for a Consultant Microbiologist and Infection Control Officer at Dr PK Saha Hospital located in Cooch Behar.

    The Consultant Microbiologist and Infection Control Officer play a pivotal role in ensuring the highest standards of microbiological testing, analysis, and infection control practices within a National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers (NABH) accredited hospital. This role requires a highly qualified and experienced professional who can contribute to maintaining a safe and infection-free environment for patients, staff, and visitors.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Microbiological Analysis:

    Conduct routine and specialized microbiological tests on clinical specimens, ensuring accurate and timely results.

    Interpret microbiological data and provide expert consultation to healthcare professionals on appropriate diagnostic and treatment strategies.

    Infection Control Management:

    Develop, implement, and evaluate infection control policies and procedures in accordance with NABH standards and guidelines.

    Monitor and assess hospital-wide infection prevention and control practices to minimize the risk of healthcare-associated infections (HAI).

    Surveillance and Reporting:

    Establish and maintain a robust surveillance system for monitoring infectious diseases within the hospital.

    Prepare and submit regular reports on infection control activities, trends, and outcomes to hospital management and regulatory bodies.

    Education and Training:

    Conduct training programs for healthcare staff on infection control measures, microbiological best practices, and the latest developments in the field.

    Collaborate with other departments to ensure the dissemination of infection control information and updates.

    Quality Assurance:

    Participate in quality assurance programs related to microbiological testing and infection control.

    Perform internal audits to ensure compliance with NABH standards and regulations.

    Research and Development:

    Engage in research activities related to microbiology, infection control, and emerging infectious diseases.

    Stay abreast of the latest advancements in microbiology and infection control to integrate best practices into hospital protocols.

    Qualifications and Requirements:

    Medical degree with specialization in Microbiology.

    Postgraduate qualification (MD or equivalent) in Microbiology.

    Relevant experience in clinical microbiology and infection control in a healthcare setting.

    In-depth knowledge of NABH accreditation standards.

    Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.

    Working Conditions:

    The Consultant Microbiologist and Infection Control Officer may be required to work flexible hours, respond to emergencies, and collaborate with various hospital departments to ensure the effective implementation of infection control measures.
