    The K&A Engineering Consultants, India, member of the K&A Global Holding is one of Middle East's leading multi-disciplinary consultancies. K&A is ranked 8th in the Middle East and 41 globally in the Top International Design Firms.

    K & A are looking to appoint a Senior Project Sustainability / Building Physics Engineer to provide their expertise and design knowledge on a variety of high profile multi-disciplinary projects across the Middle East and abroad.

    Although the role will be based in either our Bengaluru office, you will be very much part of a national practice of Building Design professionals delivering design solutions to clients across the Middle East. The Building Design practice work on projects across all of K & A key sectors, including Aviation, Cities & Development, Education, Energy and Transportation.

    The Senior Project Engineer (Sustainability Design) ensures the adherence of design projects to local and international sustainability standards. He leads the provision of research and technical support to design project teams on topics related to green building engineering and design, with a focus on all aspects of sustainability rating systems such as LEED / Estidama consulting, design and construction strategies. He plays a leading role to raise awareness of K&A design teams and staff through sustainability training sessions and to increase the capability of engineers through sustainability rating (e.g. LEED) certification preparation sessions. The jobholder is expected to work on and handle large development projects until the successful completion of the design certification and required project close-out.

    Responsibilities

    Lead sustainability charrettes and / or LEED meetings, and interact with clients as a primary project's contact for the sustainability / LEED / Estidama scope of work

    Support the management of client relations and, including the management and response to client inquiries on technical and contractual issues

    Support the in identifying, suggesting and designing sustainability workshops, training courses and course content for internal and external counterparts, as needed

    Participate in organizing and delivering sustainability workshops for internal and external counterparts

    Support the delivery of sustainability awareness sessions to K&A design teams and staff

    Ensure client satisfaction with the sustainability services, as required by project scopes and clients requirements

    Ensure provision of high quality sustainability services to internal counterparts in the firm

    Maintain and update a repository of relevant regional sustainability-related regulations, codes and programs (e.g. ESTIDAMA)

    Assist design teams with sustainable design strategies and technologies for buildings and sites

    Effectively communicate environmental certification program requirements and progress to project teams

    Present in-depth knowledge of LEED / Estidama certification programs and specific knowledge of other green building certification programs such as GSAS, Living Building Challenge (LBC) and Passive House

    Derive sustainability options for new buildings and existing structures

    Conduct financial analysis to assess financial feasibility of sustainability options, including life cycle costs and Returns on Investment

    Develop sustainability models and calculations, including energy optimization, carbon analysis, daylight and shading simulations, glare and reflectivity modeling, microclimate analysis, etc.

    Perform technical analysis in calculations and research as needed to support proof of concept, energy optimization, carbon analysis, daylight and shading design, simulations, water balance modeling, materials recommendations, and drawing and specification review

    Coordinate with / support various internal and external team members, including energy modelers, MEP, civil engineers, general contractor, etc.

    Review building structure and MEP / HVAC systems and operations to certify adherence of Buildings and Structures to environmental KPIs and targets

    Conduct energy audits on buildings in coordination with contractors and site teams

    Monitor energy ratings compared to key KPIs to ensure certification (e.g. LEED) as needed

    Oversee entire LEED / Estidama certification documentation process

    Develop sustainability reports, drawings and findings and present to clients, as needed

    Present project findings to external and internal K&A client counterparts to obtain comments and approvals on findings

    Support the development of project progress reports related to the commissioning scope of work and monitor project progress against schedule and budget

    Implement corporate policies and procedures

    Requirements

    · Well-rounded understanding of the principles of building physics, from concept design input, options comparisons and thermal modelling;

    · Bachelor of Architecture/M.Arch in Sustainable Architecture

    · Preferably >12 years' experience in sustainability related consulting with experience (Middle East experience is advantageous)

    · Experience in sustainability building and masterplan certifications (knowledge of rating systems such as LEED, Mostadam, Estidama, WELL is preferred)

    · Must be proficient in analysis software such as IES-VE, Ladybug tools , Open Studio or similar .

    · Experience in circular economy principles and life cycle assessments is advantageous

    · Understand energy modelling and can interpret modelling results

    · Experience with construction sites sustainability and environmental management

    · Diverse sector knowledge including property and building, government and retail

    · Strong oral and written communication skills in English with the ability to communicate results via Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and related software, and craft compelling presentations and reports

    · Flexible and open to work with the wider Environment and Sustainability disciplines
