Job Description – Category (Ecommerce/Marketplace) Lead
Role Summary: Category (Ecommerce/Marketplace) Lead is the business owner for his / her category including P&L and budget for the category. He/ she will be responsible for delivering sales, increasing AOV, optimizing channel mix, pricing, and promotion for the owned category, including reporting and monitoring of sales across channels.
Primary Function and Responsibilities:
Revenue and margin delivery: Responsible for pricing and promotion strategies across online and offline channels
Responsible for establishing channel strategy, channel mix and funnel conversion.
Market analysis and competition benchmarking
Researching, understanding, and analyzing market trends, customer preference data
Keep track of competition and new product developments
Inventory management: Responsible for process development, operational planning including inventory requirement to support forecasting and new launches.
Tracking: Analyze category performance to track actuals versus forecasted as weekly and monthly levels
Work cross-functionally with platform, operations, marketing teams to execute effectively.
People management: Set goals, define KPIs & ensure team tracks effectively towards goals.
Education & Experience:
MBA from premier b-school with 7-8+ years of experience in e-commerce/D2C industry / high growth start-ups in leading categories.
Preferred candidates from Performance Marketing or P&L background.
Attention to detail and ability to get-hands-dirty to solve problems.
Self-motivated, with a strong bias for action, strong analytical and client relationship management skills
Ability to influence a diverse group of stakeholders – strong leadership skills.
Strong problem solver with ability to lead the team to push the solution and progress.
Challenger mindset and passion to challenge status quo to find new solutions and drive out of the box ideas – loves and embraces change.
Believes in a non-hierarchical culture of collaboration, transparency, and trust across the team.
Not afraid to 'roll up the sleeves' and seeks to go outside comfort zone to learn – pushes the team to do the same.
