Technology/Role/Department at Morgan Stanley Morgan Stanley's electronic trading technology team develops and maintains core platforms, technologies and libraries used globally across multiple trading products including exchange connectivity, client connectivity, real time market data, trading engines, internal liquidity and smart routing, algo and flow analytics, core application infrastructure and specialized equity trading solutions. We are a global team of highly skilled engineers from a wide range of backgrounds and experience levels. We are in search of the world's foremost technologists to help us take our systems to the next level, with a broad range of engineering challenges for the right candidate.We are looking for a smart, creative, results-oriented individual to join our global low latency trading platform development team. The candidate will be responsible for all aspects of software development including analysis, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and maintenance. The ideal candidate will have strong C++ expertise, deep knowledge of algorithms & data structures, problem solving skills, and good communication skills. Knowledge of low latency systems, financial technologies (e.g. FIX protocol) is a plus but not essential. The candidate should be a self-motivated, enthusiastic and flexible team player and will be expected to collaborate with teams in local and remote locations. Day-to-day work will include programming in C++, code design/review sessions and testing.QualificationsQualificationsExpert C++ skills with extensive experience writing production codeStrong Unix / Linux skillsWorking knowledge of scripting languages (e.g. Python)Proficiency in multi-threaded programming, debugging skills and design patternsExperience developing client-server, distributed, real-time, performance-critical, highly available, or large-scale systemsExperience coding for a latency sensitive trading environment a strong plusKnowledge of and experience with agile software development practicesExcellent written and verbal communication skills8-15 years of relevant experienceSkills desiredKnowledge of financial technologies and trading systemsDelivery/Project management experience
