We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Senior Consultant Specialist Principal responsibilities Implementation and maintenance of database server, replication and client environments and definition of standards pertaining to the configuration and operation of database server and client components. Provide day to day support and technical expertise on database services to ensure the highest standards of availability, resilience, integrity, security and performance required by our business systems. Security and access control to meet internal and external audit requirements Ensuring that adequate provision is made for the backup and recovery of all data held within databases. Provision of resilience and contingency environments. Optimizing performance and ensuring effective use of hardware resources. Development of infrastructure and investigation of 3rd party products required to provide production, test and development database services in a cost-effective manner. Provision of support and assistance to development teams in the design, development, testing, tuning and implementation of database services including provision of such development and testing environments that are required. Identification of opportunities to maximize exploitation of current and new products relevant to the provision of database services. Compliance with internal and external audit and regulatory requirements. Ensure project and change releases are packaged to the right quality, repeatable between environments without modification and deployed to the target. Collaborating with the wider engineering and operational teams to resolve issues impacting Database infrastructure (e.g. IT infrastructure such as storage, VMs and networks) Ensure software and processes are correctly documented to ensure single points of knowledge do not become a problem Qualifications Education typically to degree level or equivalent training Requirements Essential Experience Minimum 6 years experience working extensively on Oracle Database Administration preferably in a highly regulated environment In-depth knowledge of Oracle11g,12c and 19c with good support experience in a multi-project environment Excellent Oracle Performance and Tuning skills including SQL, PL/SQL and database/instance tuning, server configuration and tracing facilities, interpretation of tkprof files and event traces Strong knowledge of Oracle Real Application Clusters Strong knowledge of Oracle Recovery Manager and Oracle DataGuard Strong experience of planning and implementing production service architectures in a multi-domain, multi-platform and multi-site environment Working in a DevOps capacity using scripting and tools (Jenkins) to deliver automation. Strong scripting skills Shell Scripting/Python to perform automation and maintenance tasks Implementing Patching and Upgrade cycles Basic Unix/Linux Administration Strong knowledge of Oracle DBA Console/Grid Control. Good knowledge of configuration management tools Puppet, Ansible, Chef, Git. Experience of InfuxDB/Grafana or similar monitoring tools. Ideal Experience Exposure to Financial Markets SAN Storage knowledge MSSQL, PostgreSQL and Sybase SQL knowledge Knowledge of NoSQL database such as MongoDB Basic knowledge of Delphix (DB virtualization technology) Atlassian product suite (JIRA\Confluence\Bamboo Expected Behaviour as follows Ability to work under pressure, take ownership, and deliver to commitments Ability to build relationships and work as part of a team Understanding of the importance of communication in the technical environment Attention to details
