Responsibilities Manages a team of individual contributors that typically includes more than 50 PERCENT Expert/Master developers, architects, software engineers, consultants, (may include other IT resources as well) and MG1s with accountability for a large multidepartment area(s) or location(s) with significant impact on business unit results, organizational strategy, and transformational activities. Often carries program management responsibilities with multiple projects. Directs and controls activities for an area with multiple disciplines. Plans, directs, and monitors activities of staff with regard to innovation and creation of intellectual property; drives the strategic multi-year plan for the team. May influence or participate in the creation of the domain or sub-domain strategy. Understands, articulates, and optimizes application and technical capabilities for use by multiple IT constituents. Responsible for business engagement and influences senior level management on overall technology strategies and long range technology roadmaps and portfolios. Responsible for design and development of applications, system performance tuning, certification and integration of software packages and large system integrations; design of network and infrastructure design and implementation. Proposes solutions that elevate business performance. Directs the design and development of software and/or systems architectures. May be responsible for data modeling and database design and management, operating systems management, storage management and vendor management. Ensures that systems and applications are highly available and meet or exceed performance expectations, and require little to no support. Resolves most complex technical issues that arise during testing. Serves as the absolute point of technical resolution for responsible assets. Ensures team meets relevant IT metrics and commitments per IT business goals and objectives. Drives effective management of programs and initiatives; drives issue identification and prioritization and escalation management. Applies mastery level subject matter knowledge and multiple resourcing strategies to manage staff activities in solving most complex technical issues. May interpret policy or recommend policy exception. Communicates organizational business plans and strategies and drives workforce plans, performance planning and review as well as talent management with emphasis on development of advanced technical skills and capabilities in accordance with Technical Career Paths. Provides technical as well as people leadership. Exerts influence horizontally and vertically in the organization; demonstrates business acumen and applies it for effective business engagement with internal customers and third parties; represents the needs of the business to IT and communicates IT standards to the businesses. Drives change management beyond the immediate team and for the business unit; takes personal ownership of the IT strategy. Education and Experience Required Typically a technical bachelor's degree or equivalent; advanced degree may be preferred. Twelve years minimum related experience with minimum five years of management or supervisory experience. Knowledge and Skills Demonstrated strong expertise within relevant fields or disciplines. Strong knowledge or business experience in other business units or functional areas of the company. Experience directing and controlling the activities of multiple functions. Demonstrated advanced understanding of software development life cycle methodologies; able to determine optimum methods. End to end understanding of entire technology ecosystems including hardware, network and applications for optimization of the whole. Basic understanding of business process modeling.
