Description

Your responsibilities will include the installation, configuration, maintenance, and support of our Tableau Server environment. Your expertise will be crucial in managing user accounts, permissions, and security settings for Tableau Server.

You will monitor system performance and troubleshoot any issues related to Tableau and its connectivity to upstream systems & databases.

By ensuring the smooth operation of our Tableau Server environment, you will be making a difference in fostering a data-literate culture within Airbnb.

A Typical Day:
Install, configure, and maintain the multi-node, Linux Tableau Server environment, including upgrades and patches.
Manage user accounts, permissions, and security settings for Tableau Server.

Monitor system performance (thru Metadata & Admin views) and troubleshoot any issues related to Tableau and/or it's connectivity/integrations to other systems & databases.

Automation for tasks like deployment of data sources/workbooks across environment, alerts via scripting (PowerShell/Bash), & integrations with AirflowWork closely with Tableau vendor for product fixes, support cases, and enhancements.

Work with data analysts and scientists to understand their data visualization needs and develop solutions using Tableau.
Monitor server activity/usage statistics to identify possible performance issues/enhancements.
Create and maintain data extracts and refreshes to ensure data accuracy and performance.
Manage and support migration of workbooks, dashboards from development to production environments.
Document processes and procedures for Tableau administration.
Stay up to date on the latest Tableau features and best practices.
Maintaining Server Logs, Server Backups, and exports of Tableau metadata.
Provide training and support to users on Tableau Desktop and Server.


Your Expertise:

3+ years of experience with Tableau Server administration.3+ years of hands-on technical experience across AWS; experience with Linux is a plus2+ years of experience of coding on Python or Javascript; experience with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) is a plus.

Strong understanding of relational databases

• Postgres SQL & Trino/Hive (preferred)Experience with Tableau APIs & Airflow (preferred)Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.

Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
