    Description
    The Oncology Physicist is primarily engagedin ensuring high standards in the planning /optimization deliveryand evaluation of radiation therapy and in this capacity isresponsible for ensuring the accurate and consistent performance ofradiological equipment and for verifying the accuracy and adequacyof treatment plans and dose calculations. The Clinical MedicalPhysicist also acts as the clinic s primary resource for ensuringthe safe use of radiation.Specific dutiesinclude but are not limitedto:
    • Ensures that all radiationoncology treatment simulation machines and all sealed brachytherapysources are correctly calibrated according to accepted protocols.Assists with the implementation of a comprehensive program forquality control of the radiationproducing equipment to assure theirconstant acceptable performance for patient safety and treatmentefficiency.
    • Assists the Chief Physicist withdetermining technical specifications for selection of new equipmentsupervising installation of new equipment supervising theinstallation of new equipment performing acceptance testing uponcompleted installation and measuring performance parameters toensure the accurate clinical implementation of newequipment.
    • Implements and quality assurance ofappropriate procedures for the planning and delivery ofradiotherapy including technical specifications/tolerances as wellas the flow of procedures entailed in the process (includingsupervision and QC review of treatment plans and dosecalculations).
    • Manages a comprehensive systemfor error prevention including a method to learn from incidents(including near misses ) with a focus on improving the process tominimize the risk of future incidents; ensures that clinical andphysics procedures are subjected to a riskinformed assessmentdesigned to minimize risks to patient andstaff.
    • Servers as a resource for training andcontinuing education for all Radiation Oncologystaff.
    PositionRequirements:
    • Master s Degreerequired.
    • Certification in TherapeuticRadiological Physics required from:
    • TheAmerican Board of Radiology or
    • The AmericanBoard of Medical Physics or
    • The CanadianCollege of Physics in Medicine
    • CPRCertification preferred.
    • Experience as aradiation oncology medical physicist required including clinicalexperience with linac calibrations and QC treatment planning systemQC and routine use sealed isotope therapy and radiation safety IMRTplanning and delivery computer systems quality control and medicalphysics program documentation.
    • Job may requireup to 50% of local travel.
    • The COVID19vaccination is/may be a condition ofemployment.
