    Saint-Gobain Research India, 7th Transversal R&D center for Saint-Gobain in Chennai, is looking for Research Engineer in Competency Research Lab.

    In this role the expectation is to support R&D projects related to polymer, Abrasives, Gypsum, Glass, and Ceramics. Candidate should have good understanding material science concepts and have hands-on experience in experimentation and analysis.

    Key ResponsibilitiesConducting research and development activities related to material characterization and innovationDesign and implement experiments for characterization and testing of materialsUtilize various characterization techniques such as TGA, DSC, DMA, TMA, FTIR, and strength analysisAnalyze and interpret experimental data to draw meaningful conclusionsCollaborate with cross-functional teams to develop innovative solutions and products.

    Stay updated with the latest advancements in the field of material scienceHigh adherence to safety policy of SGTo independently manage to calibrate and trouble shoot instruments such as DSC, TGA, STA, DMA and TMASupport all SG business for needs in terms of thermal properties, support with data interpretation and timely reportingDeveloping new test methodsDelivering the Competency and BU projects following systematic project management frameworkSkill & KnowledgeStrong theoretical and practical knowledge on polymer, composites, and thermodynamicsHands-on experience with characterization, and testing of polymers and composite materials.

    Familiarity with characterization techniques such as TGA, DSC, DMA, TMA, and strength analysis.
    Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
    Effective communication and collaboration abilitiesAbility to work effectively in a team environmentProject management knowledge is a plusSolid knowledge on mechanics of materialShould have strong ability to establish structure-property-process relationship and be able to apply for Root Cause AnalysisStrong in interpretation on characterization & tests reportsPossess strong leadership skills –having experience in leading projects using stage gate methodologyGood people connect across cross-functional and multi-functional teamsShould possess good time management skills and should be able to prioritize based on requirement in dynamic work cultureBasic knowledge on statistical toolsShould possess good verbal and written communication skillsMandatory to have good presentation skill to convey message in concise manner

    EducationAcademic QualificationPhD in Material Science with a focus on Polymers (2-4 Years exp.) or Masters in Material Science with 8+ years of experience
