Thought Over Design is a brand strategy & design studio based out of Bombay, India.
We're a small team (20 people) of creative people on a mission to build brands with
purpose.
What we're looking for
We're looking for an intelligent, driven and passionate Business Development Lead
who can help us effectively assess and convert business leads into projects and long
term client relationships. The BD Lead will ensure that we are building enduring
relationships with a like-minded fraternity of clients and partners. Everything from
assessment of lead to conversion into a project contract will be owned and driven by
you.
The opportunity
You will have the opportunity to speak to and build relationships with some of the
coolest up & coming brands in the country as well as established businesses who
seek to level up their brand. This means you get a front row seat to what's happening
in India with consumer brands across multiple sectors and industries.
Responsibilities
● Lead Funnel: Create a lead funnel for TOD - from inquiry, evaluation,
monitoring to closure. We actively receive various leads for different channels -
email, , whatsapp messages, calls, instagram DMs - we need to
consolidate and address all leads with equal attention. All communication with
potential clients will be under your purview. Ensuring all leads are responded
to during the process of the conversation.
● Representing the studio: A very important aspect of the role is to pitch the
studio to clients with a full background on who we are, our past experience,
our services and what we're really good at. This role requires you to champion
talking about the studio, being well versed with our past projects and an ability
to present these to clients as required.
● Qualifying Leads: Since we receive a large number of leads, these need to be
quickly responded to, addressed and a process is to be established to respond
to the leads and ask the right questions to qualify them further. We believe
this process can become way more efficient and are looking to have someone
come in and improve it.
● Understanding the client: Taking the effort to get to know the client and their
objectives, and having the ability to customize our approach & working team,
based on each client's unique requirement.
● Proposal Development: Estimate creation and proposal development is a
critical part of the role. These typically require you to understand the project
requirement, create a scope of work fleshed out with timelines, rates and
terms. We do have some of these formats in place but are looking for someone
to come in and improve the way we do this to make it much more efficient.
● Contracts & Agreements: Once a client closes on a project, inputting the scope
of work into our contract formats and ensuring everything has been translated
into the final agreement basis discussions very clearly. This includes creating
payment terms, building out detailed scope of work annexures and ensuring all
NDA's and contracts are in place before the project begins officially.
● Quarterly & Yearly planning: Work with the founder and accounts team to
create an ongoing report of business confirmed and business in the pipeline
from clients.
● Automating and Improving processes: We're looking for someone to come in
and take charge of building a much robust process overall for how business
development is done. Whether it's improving the way we qualify leads to the
softwares or dashboards we use to track them, we're keen for you to improve
and make this far more efficient overall.
● Outbound Client Acquisition: Identify and pursue new business opportunities
through proactive outreach, networking, and relationship building that fit the
ethos at TOD and match the kind of founders / brands we want to enable.
● Tracking project progress & health: When a project closes - it is typically
handed over to the account management team for execution. It is important
for you to keep track of project health and whether payment milestones are
being met through the course of the assignment. Assessing new opportunities
with the same client across the project lifecycle and helping with developing
that business would also be important.
● Weekly & Quarterly Reporting: Prepare weekly & quarterly reports summarizing
leads, building proposals for review and working closely with Anushka (our
founder) on ensuring your approach is in sync with the studio ethos and
processes.
● Collaborate & leverage the team: Work closely with a few key team members
that will get you the insight or information you need to respond to a lead.
Delegate and ensure you are getting the inputs you need, whenever there is a
surge in leads to be managed.
Requirements
● 6 years of work experience, minimum
● Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or
related field
● Proven experience in business development or account management,
preferably within the creative industry
● Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
● Mumbai-based candidates only or open to moving to Mumbai full time
