Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and solution-driven professional with a strong background in maritime law to join our Maersk Incident & Claims organization as an Adjuster - Defence Claims. The role is based in Mumbai, India, and will report to the Head of Incident Management. The successful candidate will be responsible for handling charter-party disputes involving the Maersk Chartered fleet, negotiating with various stakeholders, and providing effective solutions to mitigate costs and time for the charterers.
Key Responsibilities:
Handling associated claims under CLH (Charterer's Liability to Hull)
* Coordinating effectively with liner operations to ensure timely and efficient resolution of claims
* Negotiating with vendors, terminals, stevedores, and vessel owners to mitigate charterers' costs and time
* Understanding and effectively communicating charter party terms and conditions to stakeholders
* Providing effective negotiations and improving the scope of recovery of claims from responsible stevedores/terminals
* Providing fast and competent responses to queries from all stakeholders
* Identifying opportunities for preventive measures in repetitive/recurring claims situations
* Participating in continuous improvement opportunities by providing specific feedback on types of issues encountered
* Acting in a manner consistent with Maersk behaviors and values
Who We Are Looking For:
We are looking for a self-motivated and dedicated professional with a passion for maritime law and a solution-driven attitude. The ideal candidate should have a strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to develop good rapport with various stakeholders from different cultures. The role requires a graduate with proven experience in managing maritime casualties, cargo claims, and maritime litigation, as well as a sound understanding of shipping operations and legal principles underpinning international trade, bills of lading, and COGSA.
The successful candidate should have the ability to work independently with minimum supervision, meet strict timelines, and make future-oriented decisions. They should be highly motivated to learn as well as share knowledge, have excellent written and spoken English, and be focused on quality and effective stakeholder management.
