    Role Title:

    Chief Engineer – Electrical Hardware Test, Components & Project Leads

    Role Purpose:

    Managing the engineering strategy and execution of testing electronics and electric components as well as project leadership of electronics and electric components development projects.

    Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a global validation & verification test strategy for Electronic Control Units and Inverters. Implement this strategy globally to harness efficiencies across products & regions.
  • Provide leadership and framework for manufacturing test strategy of Electronic Control Units and Inverters.
  • Provide leadership to RFQ phase including feasibility and requirements compliance for new electronics and electric components opportunities.
  • Lead teams in their validation of electronics products in scope of HWE processes as well as Electric Components (actuators, sensors, harnesses, and connectors).
  • Provide leadership & framework for a team responsible for project management (MAN.3) and supplier monitoring (ACQ.4) for Electronics and Electric Components development projects.
  • Manage team budget, headcount, and CapEx according to plan.
  • Develop and implement laboratory management standards globally for safety & quality adherence.
  • Lead continuous improvement transformations to gain efficiencies in project management through metrics & reporting, lessons learned frameworks, and streamlined processes.
  • Set goals for Electric Components team on improving product selection for best market competitiveness (cost, performance, quality) and provide leadership toward achieving those goals.
  • Accountability for the efficiency of HWE.4 and portions of the HWE.3 processes. Provide inputs to MAN.3 and ACQ.4 processes to support efficient management of electronics & electric components development projects.
  • Accountability for RFI/RFQ efforts and external spend relating to electrical hardware test and project management.
  • Assign team members as necessary for acquisition projects to support test and project management development activities.
  • Facilitate a culture that values IP generation and drive team toward delivery.
  • Represent technical expertise in Electrical Hardware Test internally and externally.
  • Lead organization of Know How Transfer (KHT) and training and promote a culture of learning within and outside the department.
  • Provide expertise and support for problem solving major validation, verification, and manufacturing test issues.
  • Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Master's degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 10+ years of experience in Automotive Testing of complex electronics or mechatronics products.
  • 5+ years of experience leading teams responsible for verification & validation of electronics or mechatronics products.
  • Experience leading extensive development or test projects for major automotive OEMs.
  • Transformational leader who has a proven track record of leading change and improving the performance of teams.
  • Extensive knowledge of automotive development processes and ways of working.
  • Detailed knowledge of automotive electronics & electric components (motors, solenoids, sensors, harnesses).
  • Ability to lead global teams in multiple regions, and to communicate and network with a global engineering community.
