Position Name: Senior DevOps engineer

Client: VIR Biotechnology, USA

Overview:

We are seeking a skilled DevOps Engineer with a strong focus on Amazon Web Services (AWS) to join our team at Vir. The candidate will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and maintaining the cloud infrastructure, ensuring seamless deployment, monitoring, and management of applications and services.

Responsibilities:

1. AWS Infrastructure Management:

• Design, deploy, and manage AWS cloud environments, including EC2 instances, S3 storage, RDS databases, and VPC configurations.

1. Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD):

• Implement and optimize CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, AWS CodePipeline, and CodeBuild to automate software builds, testing, and deployments.

1. Configuration Management:

• Utilize infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools such as AWS CloudFormation or Terraform to automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration management. Convert current CloudFormation templates into Terraform.

1. Monitoring and Logging:

• Set up monitoring and logging solutions (e.g., AWS CloudWatch, ELK stack) to track system performance, detect anomalies, and troubleshoot issues proactively.

1. Security and Compliance:

• Implement security best practices and compliance standards (e.g., CIS benchmarks, AWS Security Hub) to ensure a secure and compliant AWS environment.

1. Collaboration and Documentation:

• Work closely with development teams to streamline processes, provide technical support, and maintain comprehensive documentation for infrastructure and deployment procedures.

1. Disaster Recovery and Backup:

• Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans and backup strategies for critical systems and data hosted on AWS.

1. Performance Optimization:

• Identify and implement optimizations to improve system performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency within AWS resources.

1. On-call Responsibility:

• Be on-call for operations to acknowledge alerts off-hours/weekends.
