    Description
    [What the role is]
    The successful candidate will be part of dynamic team of researchers under the Research Programme in the Study of Muslim Communities of Success (RPCS). He/She will have the opportunity to propose and conduct an independent research project which falls under one of the three research pillars of the RPCS: Governance, Social and Science and Technology. He/She will be guided to provide research and administrative support for the fellows in research projects by the RPCS, under the RPCS Fellowship Programme, to help ensure the successful delivery of the projects. Candidate will also be responsible to support the content development for religious life of Singapore Muslim community through various platform including digital content and publications. He/she may also be required to undertake roles in research administration and support planning and execution of academic/research-related events conducted by RPCS and/or its co-organisers/stakeholders.

    [What you will be working on]

    • Conduct independent research aligned to one of the three research pillars of the RPCS and contribute to the development of new bodies of knowledge.
    • Provide research support for the development and dissemination of progressive religious thoughts based on the Singapore Muslim Identity (SMI).
    • Provide research support for the fellowship in conducting literature review, fieldwork, data analysis for qualitative and quantitative research, focus group discussions and other research related tasks (under the RPCS Fellowship Programme).
    • Provide support related to the appointment of the RPCS Practice Fellow, including research-related (interviews and transcribing, proofreading and editing) and non-research administrative tasks (scheduling, events-planning).
    • Provide support in the publication and dissemination of results and findings in reports, policy briefs, and conference and academic journal papers.
    • Provide support for the RPCS publications (administrative, writing and editing)
    • Monitoring recent trends and developments in the relevant research areas.
    • Liaise with key stakeholders (internal and external agencies or academics) in delivery of the research project.
    • Support in organising and reporting of seminars, conferences and roundtable discussions.

    [What we are looking for]

    • Candidate should possess tertiary education, specialising in any field of Islamic Studies and/or social sciences. Master's degree preferred but not a prerequisite.
    • Familiarity with conducting research independently and proven ability in (academic) writing.
    • Interest in socio-political and socio-religious issues of Muslim communities.
    • Ability to support research work in RPCS digital repository including identification and sourcing of materials and providing synopsis and analytical write-ups.
    • Language Proficiency: English, Malay, Arabic as you will work with materials with these languages.
    • Computer Literacy: MS Office Suite (especially Word and Excel), Canva, InDesign (Adobe) and Photoshop Illustrator. Additional training for use of software canbe provided.

    Successful candidate will be appointed on contract basis.
