JOB PROFILE SENIOR ELECTRICAL & ELECTRONICS ENGINEER Design and Engineering : Designing electrical and electronic systems for ships, including power distribution, lighting, communication, navigation, and control systems.

This involves creating schematics, layouts, and specifications, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Integration and Testing :

Integrating electrical and electronic components into the ship's overall design, collaborating with other engineering teams (such as naval architects, mechanical engineers, and software developers) to ensure seamless integration.

Conducting tests and simulations to verify system performance and reliability.

Should possess thorough knowledge of tendering & procurement procedures and Coordination with OEMs for speedy installation of Systems.

Power Systems :
Designing and managing the ship's power generation, distribution, and storage systems.

This includes selecting appropriate generators, transformers, switchgear, and battery systems, as well as ensuring efficient power distribution throughout the vessel.

To analyze the cost, requirements and maintenance of electrical systems such as electric motors, radar, navigation systems, communications & power generation equipments.

Control Systems :
Developing and implementing control systems for various ship functions, such as propulsion, steering, and environmental control.

This involves programming PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and other automation systems, as well as designing human-machine interfaces (HMIs) for monitoring and control.

Communication and Navigation Systems :

Specifying and configuring communication and navigation equipment, such as radar, GPS, VHF/UHF radios, satellite communication systems, and electronic chart displays.

Ensuring compliance with international maritime regulations and standards.

Safety and Compliance :

Ensuring that all electrical and electronic systems meet safety standards and regulatory requirements, such as those set by classification societies (e.g., ABS, Lloyd's Register).

Conducting risk assessments and implementing safety measures to mitigate electrical hazards and prevent system failures.

Effective liaising with electrical Auditors and Government statutory bodies as required from time to time.

Ensure team building, Safety of workforce, equipment and Company Assets.

Commissioning and Maintenance :

Overseeing the commissioning and testing of electrical and electronic systems during the shipbuilding process, as well as providing support for system troubleshooting and maintenance throughout the vessel's lifecycle.

This includes developing maintenance schedules, conducting inspections, and coordinating repairs as needed.

To perform Corrective maintenance, Preventive maintenance, Predictive maintenance schedule maintenance and preventative repairs of all electrical and electronics systems, equipment, machinery and also review maintenance schedules and adjust them as necessary to keep systems functioning at peak levels.

Budgeting expenses for procurement and maintenance of equipment.

Documentation and Reporting :
Maintaining accurate documentation of all electrical and electronic systems onboard, including drawings, manuals, test reports, and certification documents.

Providing regular progress reports to Ship Owners', highlighting key milestones, issues, and recommendations for improvement.

Ensuring the safe and efficient operation of electrical and electronic systems onboard ships, from initial design and integration to ongoing maintenance and support.

Strong technical skills, attention to detail, and knowledge of maritime regulations are essential for success in this role.
