The role

The Editorial Manager oversees the daily operations of the Editorial department or assigned brand(s). This entails ensuring quality control of all projects from inception to completion, and monitoring and modifying resources to fulfill the often-varying workload required of the brand editors. The manager is also responsible for maintaining the editorial responsibilities of his/her own accounts.

What we expect from you

•Develops and executes departmental and company procedures

•Acts as a champion for the Editorial department

•Meets with other department heads and/or brand teams that require additional editorial resources

•Determines and assigns product responsibilities of each editor/proofreader

•Coordinates freelancers' schedules and adapts departmental resources when staffing deficiencies or excessive workload increases arise

•Editing responsibilities (includes proofreading, fact-checking, and styling major promotional print pieces in accordance with AMA and client guidelines)

•Establishes and maintains policies and procedures for the department, including client, FDA, and AMA updates

•Ensures appropriate expense control and achieves budgetary goals on assigned brand(s)

•Motivates staff and keeps them well informed of any procedural changes

•Ensures editorial style is meticulously maintained for each assigned brand

•Conducts performance evaluations for direct reports

•Hires and trains staff

•Interacts with clients in the interest of solving problems and/or establishing policies and guidelines relevant to their business, as required

Background/experience and skills

•At least 5 years at a pharmaceutical/healthcare advertising agency

•Prior supervisory experience or demonstrated equivalent

•Medical education experience, as applicable

•In-depth knowledge of AMA style (11th edition) and familiarity with FDA regulations

•Bachelor's degree or graduate degree in a related field

•Expertise in MS Office, including Word and PowerPoint; comfort working in Acrobat

•Internet search capability
