Description

The Physical Therapist Assistant providesphysical therapy treatments to patients to facilitate increasedindependence and functioning under the supervision of a LicensedPhysicalTherapist.
RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:1.Attends and contributes to patient care staffing conferences andother required meetings as a representative of physical therapyunder the direction of the physicaltherapist.2. Responsible for the effectiveand efficient delivery of rehab services; adherence to anestablished plan of care department and patient(s) schedule andtimely documentation of services.3. Workswith other members of the rehabilitation team to implement programsand activities consistent with the needs and capabilities of eachpatient.4. Acts as an assistant to thePhysical Therapist when the Physical Therapist is performing testsevaluations and complex procedures.5.Instructs patients families and other caregivers in the skills andtechniques of the physical therapy treatment program under thesupervision of the Physical Therapist.6.Maintains appropriate and timely documentation for all patientstreated.7. Cleans maintains identifies andreports the need for repair of equipment asnecessary.8. Puts Patient Service First:Ensures that patients and families receive the highest quality ofservice in a caring and compassionate atmosphere which recognizesthe individuals needs and rights.9.Implements a patients individualized treatment plan as establishedby the primary Physical Therapist.10.Provides individualized physical therapy treatments including butnot limited to:

• Therapeutic exerciseincluding aerobic capacity conditioning balance coordinationagility training body mechanics and postural stabilizationflexibility exercises gait and locomotion training neuromotordevelopment training relaxation strength power and endurancetraining
• Functionaltraining
• Manualtherapy
• Airway clearancetechniques
• Integumentary repair andprotection
• Use of electrotherapeutic physicalagent and mechanicalmodalities

11.Organizes and facilitates treatment groups in collaboration withthe physicaltherapist.12.Performs other related duties asrequired.
