    JOB DESCRIPTION
    Title: BI Application Admin II
    Location: India

    The Business Intelligence Application Administrator is a key resource for the Business Intelligence team. The BI Application Admin supports, maintains, and modernizes the various applications used by the BI team, which includes but not limited to Tableau, CData, Octopai, Kourier, and Alteryx. The BI Application Admin is responsible for ensuring the BI applications are on the latest version, current with patches, and the servers for the on-premises applications have the necessary requirements. The BI Application Admin works with various departments within Information Services to create dependable applications and identify new applications that will support Mouser's analytical needs.

    ACCOUNTABILITIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Analyze and evaluate system changes to determine feasibility, alternative solutions, and backup procedures.
  • Act as "domain expert" for the BI applications.
  • Provide technical recommendations to the BI team.
  • Experiment with new features and enhancements to the BI applications and implement them into the organization.
  • Proactively reduce the risks of outages and bottlenecks and enhance business continuity.
  • Desire and ability to stay current with industry trends, best practices, and tools.
  • Engage in long-term planning instead of reacting to application issues
  • Install, configure, and maintain the BI application infrastructure to ensure reliable performance and scalability.
  • Manage, support, and schedule deployments of fixes and enhancements from the lower environments to production.
  • Responsible for scheduling regular refreshes of the lower environments.
  • Works closely with vendors to understand fixes and enhancements to the BI applications.
  • Validates and regression tests application upgrades, patches, and enhancements to ensure the changes don't negatively impact Mouser.
  • Works with the BI Architects, BI Leads, and BI Management to schedule upgrades and patches.
  • Creates and documents an implementation and rollback plan for upgrades and patches.
  • Communicates to the BI Team and Key Stakeholders about upcoming upgrades and patches, timing for when the changes will be implemented, and if the application will experience downtime.
  • Ensures optimal performance and integrity of the BI applications by proactively monitoring, providing recommendations for optimization, and maintaining best practices.
  • Monitor on-premises application servers to ensure they have the recommended requirements plus additional capacity to support upcoming growth.
  • Troubleshoot production issues, identify root cause, and implement resolutions.
  • Works closely with BI Architects, DBAs, and the Security team to set up environments that meet the needs of users.
  • Audit licenses every quarter to ensure the BI applications have sufficient licenses to support business needs.
  • Manage user permissions for the BI applications.
  • Communicate performance issues to key stakeholders.
  • Ability to learn new applications and services quickly. Understand how applications and services can be integrated to work together.
  • Provide on-call support on weekends, off-hours, and holidays when necessary.

  • PC experience in a Microsoft Windows environment, proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Experience with analytical / data visualization software, such as Tableau, MicroStrategy, PowerBI.
  • Knowledgeable with database concepts, SQL, clustering, active directory, DNS, load balancer, and network firewall.
  • Ability to read and understand application logs.
  • REQUIREMENT

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Data, Computer Science , Network Administration, or System Administration.
  • 2+ years Application Administration experience required. For internal candidates, experience can be a combination of internal and external experience.
  • Experience with monitoring and alerting practices.
