    Job Description:

    The Engineer – Digital & Drawing Management will be part of the VP TAO organization. The VP TAO will be accountable for maximizing integrated business value across the organization. Technical Asset Operations (TAO) is a key enabler for the accelerated delivery of Shell's Asset Management System and will help us to reach our ultimate potential in Downstream Manufacturing, Integrated Gas and Upstream. TAO provides high quality and cost-competitive technical resources who are not physically present at site yet are an integral part of asset teams delivering value through end-to-end AMS work processes.

    The role will be part of the extended asset team supporting the LNG Canada (LNGC) Asset. This will be a key role in the IM space and needs to grow and evolve with the asset (from the project stage to steady state operations). The key aspect for this role in the first 2-3 years is working collaboratively with the LNGC team in executing the preparatory work to meet asset startup objectives. This role will eventually manage the TAO based team supporting the asset in the space of document and (including 1D/2D/3D data)

    Job Purpose

    The purpose of the job is to provide support to Shell's operating units in Drawing and Digital delivery space in creating and Managing Intelligent/Non-Intelligent 1D/2D/3D technical databases, design and modelling applications functioning as a Drafter /Designer/3D Modeller and Admin based on the scope and deliverables. The candidate will primarily work on AutoCAD, Microstation and PDMS/AVEVA E3D/SP3D and Hexagon applications like SPPID, SPI, SP3D/S3D, SPRD, SPIOP.

    Business Dimensions

    The role requires expertise across disciplines mechanical, piping, detail engineering, electrical and instrumentation and close engagement with the operating units in updating technical specifications, managing overall progress, and suggesting improvement solutions for improving the overall quality of work. The candidate will also provide training and guidance to other drafters while replicating best practices from stakeholders and partner organizations. Candidate is expected to have hands on experience in both Hexagon 2D,3D and PID applications. Preferably with admin exposure too.

    Principal Accountabilities

    • The candidate must have relevant experience in onshore/offshore oil and gas industries in mechanical piping engineering in FEED, detail engineering, and as-built processes.
    • They must also have proficiency in drafting, detailing, reviewing, and managing technical documents and drawings.
    • Read & comprehend the various technical drawings of the process & facilities like P&IDs (Piping & Instrumentation Diagram), Isometrics, General Arrangement (GA), Equipment Sketch, Instrument Hook-ups, Loop Diagrams, Cable Schedules, Single line diagram (SLD), Switch board layouts and other mechanical, piping, instrumentation & electrical related drawings.
    • Proficiency in drafting/detailing/review/managing of technical documents and drawings like Pipe material specification, valve material specification, piping general arrangement, piping isometrics, plot plan, layouts, equipment general arrangement, pipe supports and other related drawings
    • Understand and interpret the corrections & redline mark ups (RLMU) done in the drawings. Preparation & Checking of all 2D updated drawings executed by peer designers. Review of vendor drawings including control system wiring and panel drawings all other interfaces for design deliverables.
    • They should provide technical support, quality check, and share recommended practices and standards to drafters and designers. Additionally, the candidate must understand the completeness and consistency across the entire project to improve quality and reduce rework.

    3D

    • Experience in 3D modelling, handling 3D modeling software like Hexagon/ Aveva tools, OCA, 3D model review tools, clash checking using Naviswork freedom/manager, and laser scan projects are an added advantage.
    • Deep Understanding and experience in onshore/offshore Oil and Gas industries in Mechanical piping engineering in FEED, Detail Engineering and As-built process.
    • Experience in laser scan projects is expected.
    • Conversion of laser scan into Aveva E3D/SP3D.
    • Strong understanding of fundamentals of mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation, civil structural and process discipline required for Plant 3D model creation Proficiency in AVEVA 3D/SP3D modeling with understanding of drafting and quality check process
    • Proficiency in following administration activities is must E3D application Setting up 3D backup restore 3D environment setup – Site creation, PBS creation, Report customization, Security setup etc. Setting up naming rules Setting interference detection service and rules 3D workshare setup Setting up AVEVA E3D in Thin client & Thick client environment Symbols Customization 3D Version upgrades and patching Customization of Orthographic, Isometric drawing Templates.
    • Proficiency in customize and extract the reports from 3D model as and when required by the design team. Creating 3D Labels for Reports, Isometric and GA drawings. Troubleshoot the spec related errors & Implement modeler's queries solution on database Provide tooltips & Retrieve the Plant PBS from 3D.
    SP3D (User & Admin)
    • SP3D Administration, setup, archive, workshare, and replication.
    • SP3D Customization required for project deliverables.
    • End user support (troubleshooting on S3D bugs, error, any related issue on application)
    • Setup/restore S3D database for project
    • Maintaining project database (integrity and backup)
    • Well known on general administration task on S3D application (setup, configuration, specification, cataloguing etc.)
    • End user support (troubleshooting on S3D bugs, error, any related issue on application)
    • Prepare/customization of report and drawing template/setup
    • Preparing deliverables such as VUE model, database set, drawing set
    • Utilizing automation toolkit to help designer's operation
    • Create and maintaining catalogue (piping, structural, equipment, etc.)
    • Able to add components in catalogue as requested by discipline (bulk loading catalog data, modifying specification, etc.)
    • Customizing symbols .DLL and rules to suite project requirement (eg: using end cut rule to custom cross section structural members)
    • Database maintenance, database integrity and management.
    • Setup and management of new and existing engineering projects within SmartPlant 3D in standalone as well in workshare mode.
    • Implement automation tools that will benefit the project deliverable's
    • Prepare Project specific job notes and provide application trainings for all the SP3D Modules.
    • Gain a full understanding of the scope, overall schedule, deliverables, milestones and coordination procedure.
    • Managing and creating pipe specification in SPRD throughout the project life cycle
    • Download and bulkload pipe specs and catalog changes from SPRD to SP3D/S3D
    • Conduct interference clash detection
    • Creation of SmartPlant Review data for model reviews
    • Interface with EPCs performing work for the site
    • Identifying potential service level problems and facilitating solutions
    • Experiencing creating piping specification in RDB
    • Experience with Smart Interop Publisher would be an asset
    • Ability to develop and improve standards and processes
    • Experience in developing and implementing user training
    • Knowledge in SPIOP, SPR, SPF, PDS and laser scan is added advantage

    SPPID

    • Conversion of Non-Intelligent AutoCAD PID into SPP&ID format with QA/QC will be added advantage.
    • Extensive experience as SPP&ID User and able to QC the drawing before handover to asset will also be added advantage.
    • Admin issues faced by SPPID designers and fix it to for smooth handover asset PIDs will be additional advantage.
    • Proficient in handling all SPPID admin activities efficiently.
    • Setting up P&ID Backup - Restore environment, Symbols Customization, Report customization, creation of Datasheet Templates, Security setup, Naming Rules, ISO15926 compliance, P&ID workshare and setting up SPP&ID in Thin client & Thick client environment.
    • Provide tooltips & retrieve the Plant PBS from SPP&ID.
    • Understand the admin issues faced by SPPID designers and fix it to for smooth handover asset PIDs.
    • Strong understanding of fundamentals of mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation, civil structural and process discipline required for intelligent P&ID creation.
    • Understand and interpret the corrections & redline mark ups done in the drawings.
    • Understand the completeness and consistency across the entire project for improving quality and reducing rework
    • Create smart P&IDs, Isometric drawings, 3D Piping Drawings by assigning attributes & meta data to the objects/equipment in the drawing, changing the properties of an object, adding/editing the meta data for the objects in the drawings.

    Education/Experience:

    Required:

    • The candidate must have a mechanical/piping engineering degree/diploma with 8-10 years of work experience in the oil & gas/petrochemical industry - operating assets and/or a varied range of greenfield/brownfield projects.
    • They should be familiar with international codes, standards, recommended practices and knowledge level in Shell Dep.
    • Knowledge in mechanical piping engineering design & selection of piping components, comprehending, creating & updating the drawings / 3D models of technical disciplinary drawings viz plot plan, piping GA & isometrics, P&ID/PEFS, PFD, reviewing and understanding all technical documents, document management, and bill of materials are necessary.
    • Preferred skills include strong knowledge in 2D tools such as AutoCAD, acting as an interface with other disciplines to overcome design/drafting issues.
    • A diverse design experience, particularly with typical engineering/construction projects, and strong supervisory and excellent computer skills.
    • Knowledge in Information Management and Integrated Engineering Systems processes and principles
    • Familiar with international codes, standards, recommended practices, and knowledge level in Shell Dep will be added advantageous.
    • Chemical/Process design & technical disciplinary drawings in design, drafting & engineering firms/ consultancy firms/ plant environments/industry past the professional degree/diploma.
    • Result oriented with goal setting for self and team.
    • Leadership skills and team engagement.

    Highly Preferred skills are:

    • A strong knowledge in Hexagon suites and Digital twin
