Engineering Manager Job Description

This role requires a seasoned engineering leader to set up and manage a new team, reporting directly to the Global Head of Technology. The successful candidate will have expertise in software engineering, team management, and technology leadership.

Your Impact:

Develop and implement best practices for code quality, teamwork, and communication within the team.
Foster strong relationships with upstream and downstream teams, as well as other stakeholders.
Take ownership of the technology behind the product, driving improvements and designing new solutions to address business problems.
Lead system architecture redesign efforts focused on performance enhancements and stability.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

Manage a team of software engineers in building, enhancing, and supporting mission-critical business application products.
Oversee the re-architecture of legacy applications into scalable, transaction-heavy API-based applications using Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) principles and design patterns.
Evaluate and implement state-of-the-art technologies to increase productivity and efficiency.
Grow and mentor a geographically distributed software engineering team through regular feedback, coaching, and career guidance.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve the software delivery pipeline, reducing cycle time and increasing quality and security posture.
Work with large datasets using relational and No-SQL databases.
Enforce good coding practices and optimize complex business rules and workflows.

Minimum Technical Qualifications:

10+ years of development experience as an IC or Lead developer, with 5+ years of hands-on experience in PHP 7 and above, including OOPs concepts and design patterns like factory, observer, adapter, strategy, and decorator.
5+ years of experience managing a team of 10+ engineers and leads.
Expertise in Object-Oriented principles, REST APIs, web applications, and database management systems.
Knowledge of design patterns, algorithm analysis, caching, session management, message queues, full-text search, and web sockets technologies.
