    Overview:

    The MachineShop Head of Department (HOD) plays a crucial role in overseeingthe manufacturing operations within the machine shop. They areresponsible for leading and managing all aspects of the machineshop ensuring efficiency quality and safety in productionprocesses. The HOD collaborates with crossfunctional teams to meetproduction targets maintain equipment and uphold industrystandards.

    KeyResponsibilities:

    • Lead and supervisemachine shop staff
    • Develop and implementmanufacturing processes and bestpractices
    • Oversee production schedules andresource allocation
    • Ensure compliance withsafety regulations and qualitystandards
    • Optimize production efficiency andminimize downtime
    • Manage inventory andprocurement of raw materials andtools
    • Collaborate with engineering and designteams for product development
    • Resolveproduction issues and implement correctiveactions
    • Conduct regular performance evaluationsand provide feedback to staff
    • Implement LeanManufacturing principles to enhanceproductivity
    • Monitor and control productioncosts to meet budget requirements
    • Maintainequipment and machinery to ensure optimalperformance
    • Drive continuous improvementinitiatives within the machine shop
    • Participatein strategic planning and goal setting for thedepartment
    • Report on key performance indicatorsand production metrics

    RequiredQualifications:

    • Bachelors degree inMechanical Engineering Manufacturing or relatedfield
    • Proven experience in a senior leadershiprole within a machine shopenvironment
    • Demonstrated knowledge of CNCmachining tooling and fabricationprocesses
    • Strong understanding of qualitycontrol and inspection techniques
    • Familiaritywith Lean Manufacturing methodologies and continuous improvementtools
    • Proficiency in production planning andresource management
    • Excellent problemsolvingand decisionmaking skills
    • Effectivecommunication and interpersonalabilities
    • Ability to lead and motivate adiverse team of machinists andtechnicians
    • Sound knowledge of occupationalhealth and safety regulations
    • Experience inimplementing and optimizing manufacturingprocesses
    • Proficient in using CAD/CAM softwareand other manufacturingtechnology
    • Certification in Six Sigma orsimilar quality management programs
    • Proventrack record of driving operational excellence and costsavings
    • Ability to work in a fastpaced dynamicmanufacturingenvironment
