- Support in development of 1-D models in a CAE tool (AMESim, GTSuite, Simulink) for BESS in stationary applications.
- Analyse and evaluate the performance of the BESS, including batteries, associated electrical components such as – power conversion system, safety systems (alarms, HVIL, etc), protective systems, monitoring system and thermal management system.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including battery engineers, electrical engineers, control engineers, thermal engineers, and simulation experts, to understand the system.
- Create battery degradation models to perform life cycle analysis of the BESS.
- Understand and gather insights from battery usage patterns during the complete life cycle to support the development of algorithms for optimizing battery health and risk mitigation.
- Model grid integration and renewable energy integration with the BESS.
- Analysing and addressing potential reliability problems during the product design and development phase.

Overview:
Volvo Energy is hiring a skilled and motivated Performance Engineer to perform 1-D modelling and simulations for our Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at the Bangalore location.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Who are you ?
Bachelor's/Master's degree in Electrical/Electronics/Mechanical Engineering or another equivalent field with good analytics and problem-solving skills.
Total relevant experience of 4+ years.
Must haves:
Good understanding and working knowledge of Li-ion battery technology, battery systems and related concepts such as battery degradation, safety, and battery management algorithms.
Good understanding of core electrical engineering concepts – power conversion, grid connectivity and integration, electrical components such as inverters, rectifiers, buck-boost converters, and transformers.
Good understanding of thermal management systems – HVAC, CFD and concepts related to heat transfer and heat exchange.
Experience in transient and steady state analysis using engineering tools such as AMESim, Simulink, GTSuite, etc is required.
Knowledge of BESS applications in Commercial & Industrial or Utility markets is highly desirable.
Good in compiling and presenting information verbally and in writing.
Good to have:
Experience of optimisation of Energy Management projects is valued.
Experience with FMEA/ DFMEA analysis.
Experience in python, SQL, data exploration, data visualization and statistics.
Knowledge of system controls is a plus.
Good communication and networking skills.
