Description

• Lead the mechanical design review and validation processes under the Rolling Stock Contract
• Conduct detailed assessments of rolling stock mechanical systems including carbody, bogie, brake and pneumatics, coupler, doors, HVAC, gangway, gearbox, and related subsystems
• Evaluate design aspects related to crashworthiness, bogie dynamics, FEA for carbody and bogie, fire safety, pneumatic circuits, and wheel-rail interaction
• Review welding processes for stainless steel carbodies and bogie frames to ensure compliance with engineering and quality standards
• Ensure all mechanical design elements meet the relevant EN, UIC, and BS standards, and demonstrate thorough knowledge of their application
• Participate in and lead design workshops with contractors and clients, providing technical guidance and ensuring alignment with project goals
• Review and verify design documents, test reports, and calculations provided by contractors
• Understand and guide through statutory approval processes, including RDSO trials applicable to Indian Metro systems
• Objectively assess contractor planning and execution related to manufacturing, testing, and system integration
• Oversee quality assurance at manufacturing sites, focusing on components such as carbody shells and bogie frames
• Witness and evaluate rolling stock type tests including structural tests, fatigue tests, EN 45545 fire tests, brake dynamometer tests, coupler tests, and climate chamber evaluations
• Prepare high-quality technical reports and presentations independently
