    Job Title: Urban Planner

    Location: West Bengal

    Position Overview:

    We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Urban Planner to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a postgraduate degree in urban planning or a related urban sector discipline, along with a minimum of 15 years of experience in land-use and transport planning. An additional qualification in transportation engineering, economics, or a similar discipline is preferred. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of urban planning principles and regulations, with demonstrated expertise in developing and implementing comprehensive planning strategies.

    Responsibilities:

    • Conduct research and analysis to assess current urban development trends, demographic patterns, and transportation needs.
    • Develop and implement land-use and transportation plans that promote sustainable and equitable urban growth.
    • Collaborate with government agencies, stakeholders, and community groups to gather input and feedback for planning initiatives.
    • Evaluate the impact of proposed development projects on land-use patterns, transportation networks, and the environment.
    • Design and facilitate public participation processes, including workshops, public meetings, and stakeholder consultations.
    • Prepare zoning ordinances, land-use regulations, and policy documents to guide development and infrastructure investment.
    • Provide technical expertise and guidance on transportation planning, including transit-oriented development, pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure, and traffic management.
    • Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses for proposed transportation projects and initiatives.
    • Stay updated on emerging trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements in urban planning and transportation.
    • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to integrate land-use and transportation planning into broader urban development strategies.

    Qualifications:

    • Postgraduate degree in urban planning or a relevant urban sector discipline is required.
    • Minimum of 15 years of experience in land-use and transport planning, with a proven track record of successful project delivery.
    • Additional qualification in transportation engineering, economics, or a related discipline is preferred.
    • Strong understanding of urban planning principles, regulations, and best practices.
    • Proficiency in GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and other planning software/tools.
    • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
    • Effective communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex information to diverse audiences.
    • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams and with external stakeholders.
    • Detail-oriented with a commitment to producing high-quality work within tight deadlines.
    • Membership in relevant professional organizations or associations is an asset.
