    Job Description :


    The Lead Engineer is responsible for leadership of the sub system engineers and is responsible for deliverables for all aspects of defined component(s) / system(s) within the BIW Domain.


    This position is responsible for establishing, planning and running the engineering sub systemmeetings to ensure appropriate cross functional representation and input from all relevantareas.


    You will have responsibility for:

    • Ensure progression of design maturity from initial concept through to Engineering Sign-Off and design gateways.
    • Establishing and maintain the team work plan aligned to vehicle program.
    • Ensure system, sub-system and components meet cost and weight targets.
    • Ensure Regulatory compliance of system, sub-system and components.
    • Define appropriate engineering targets to meet function, quality and attributerequirements for the Vehicle Program.
    • Develop and maintain the design validation plan (DVP) including both in-house andsupplier testing plan and ensure development signoff tests are completed on schedule.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve all Validation issues.
    • Develop System Design Specifications incorporating engineering standards, testprocedures and material specifications.
    • Lead Failure Mode Avoidance activities including DFMEA, quality history reviews andDFA/DFM reviews.
    • Ensuring all relevant documentation meets ISO & quality standards.
    • Lead the resolution of design, attribute or packaging incompatibilities through theappropriate cross-functional meetings.
    • Management of Supplier (s) to ensure system/component delivery to vehicleprogramme timing and attribute targets.
    • Support Purchasing team in Sourcing and RFQ activities including the creation ofESOWs, CAD SOWs, PDSs and ESIs.
    • Support vehicle launch and pre-production builds (both virtual and physical).
    • Ensuring the effective application of APQP to manage system/component delivery.
    • Ensure delivery of PSW, through planning from project start to sign off.
    • Follow and deliver company goals and strategies.
    • Ensure system, sub-system and components meets DVA, Optical and Perceived Qualitytargets.

    Proven project management capability demonstrated by recent delivery in line with time, cost, quality & attribute targets.· Proven and extensive experience in right first time development and integration of at least one of the following – Main body structures, underbody, floor, firewall (bulkhead) dimensional analysis, weld path and tooling access etc.

    Knowledge of composites and new technologies where possible.· Detailed Engineering knowledge of design, function, performance, production & manufacturing requirements.· Ability to manage and challenge system, sub-system and component costs through utilisation of engineering knowledge and decision-making process.· Excellent communication skills, with demonstrable ability of communicating and influencing at all levels.· Evidence of leading commodity delivery and co-ordination of Manufacturing, CAE & Validation Teams.· PC Literacy: Microsoft Project, Power Point, Excel, Word etc.

    · CAD Literacy: Ability to generate CAD data and Master sections in CATIA V5 is advantageous but not essential. Teamcenter experience is necessary.· Significant experience in use of engineering tools - FMEA, Six Sigma, Agile or Scrum. · Successful history of multi vehicle delivery within the automotive sector. · Knowledge of change control, product definition and change management processes will also prove invaluable
