    Role Summary

    WSP INDIA is currently seeking a CAD Technician – GIS who is enthusiastic, creative, and delivery-oriented candidate who has practical experience with both GIS and CAD technologies. The GIS role will involve assisting with data management and mapping activities related to WSP projects. The CAD technician role will support the Mining Infrastructure team in Australia. All deliverables produced shall comply with WSP Australian standards and procedures, as well as provincial regulations, standards, and guidelines.

    Responsibilities

    The GIS role will require the successful candidate to:

    • Production of maps and figures to be used in reports and studies, in compliance with WSP quality management system (QMS).
    • Perform basic tasks, including drafting to scale, digitizing, data conversion, feature attribution, and editing GIS layers.
    • Capture required topographic layers from imagery and other sources.
    • Complete special requests for various groups by utilizing existing data, analysing results, and produce 2D, and models, reports, maps, and supporting documentation.
    • Perform quality reviews to ensure geospatial and content accuracy.
    • Proactively identify improvements to enhance the company's GIS service to clients.
    • Create, translate, and integrate GIS data layers, and digitize new data using a variety of software.
    • Attend to team and project needs as required and respond within agreed timeframes.
    • Provide regular work status updates, including risks or concerns, to line manager.
    • Develop own expertise and stay abreast of developments in GIS technologies.
    • Ensure that Health & Safety is embedded into all work practices in accordance with company policies.
    • Assist in data management functions to ensure WSP's spatial datasets are current and accurate.
    • Knowledge of important GIS concepts such as projection, datum, scale and cartographic principles

    The CAD role will require the successful candidate to:

    • Use standard survey practices to efficiently draft accurate survey plans from information.
    • gathered in the field and office.
    • Revise existing figures without compromising quality of the existing drawing.
    • Draft plans and cross sections using the standards set out by WSP. Maintain familiarity with current techniques and developments. Actively work at improving drafting skills and increase current knowledge of surveying.
    • Ensure drawings are issued and filed in an appropriate manner with following WSP QA process.
    • Capable of multi-tasking and managing multiple projects with the ability to accurately predict the time required to fulfil the individual scopes of work required.
    • Reviewing drawings to ensure compliance with Client drafting standards.
    • Coordinate with a multi-disciplinary project team.
    • Coordinating with Australian lead offices as per project requirement.
    • Actively participate in the design and provide input to the design team throughout the design process.
    • Ensure drawings are issued and filed in an appropriate manner with following WSP QA process.
    • Develop expertise and stay abreast of developments in Drafting skills.
    • Bentley Connect Series experience would be an asset.

    Mandatory Skills

    • We anticipate you will have an interest in the following areas:
    • To contribute to growing Mining Infrastructure Teams with CAD related works using GIS CAD softwares.
    • You will also be computer literate with a proficiency in Bentley Connect Series, MS office suite.
    • As well as having a thirst for knowledge, cultural awareness, an open mind and good English.
    • communication skills are essential, along with the ability to work as part of a team.
    • Coordinating his/her work with other members of the Team.
    • Work competently with minimal supervision or on an individual basis.
    • The candidate must have a valid passport.

    Desired Skills

    • Preference will be given to candidates with minimum 8-12 year of experience in a consulting firm.
    • in complementary industries like mineral processing or Mining using GIS Software and Bentley Products.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines.
    • Ability to work well as part of a team or on an individual basis.

    Qualifications

    • 8-12 years of experience in GIS drafting.
    • Tertiary qualifications in a discipline relevant to this position with a background in
    • environmental science, ecology, geography or similar
    • Strong organizational, technical, and communication skills.
    • Strong attention to the detail.
    • Familiar with working in a LEAN environment.
    • Experience with projects in Australia, New Zealand would be an advantage.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, in English
    • Experience with Bentley Connect Series.
