- Design and develop microfluidic cartridges for multiple assays in the IVD industry;
- Conduct feasibility studies, generate design concepts, and create 3D models of microfluidic cartridges using tools like SolidWorks;
- Perform simulations and optimization using simulation tools such as COMSOL, ANSYS, and other software packages;
- Lead design reviews with cross-functional teams to ensure the design meets requirements;
- Generate design documentation and oversee the development and testing of prototypes;
- Provide technical expertise in the area of microfluidics to support IVD product development efforts;
- Stay up-to-date with the latest research and technologies in the field of microfluidics and IVD;
- Integrate microfluidic components such as valves, pumps, and sensors into cartridge designs;
- Apply statistical process control and Design of Experiments (DOE) methodologies for process optimization;
- Develop and maintain quality control and assurance procedures for microfluidic cartridge manufacturing and testing;
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and guidelines for IVD product development;
- Design and implement surface modification techniques for microfluidic cartridge fabrication and functionalization;
- Lead and mentor junior engineers and technicians.
- Master's or PhD degree in a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience designing microfluidic cartridges for the IVD industry.
- Proficiency in design software such as SolidWorks, and simulation tools such as COMSOL, and ANSYS.
- Knowledge of microfluidic principles, including fluid mechanics, surface chemistry, and material science.
- Experience with microfabrication techniques and tools such as photolithography, soft lithography, and microfluidic chip fabrication.
- Familiarity with microfluidic component integration and interface design, such as microfluidic valves, pumps, and sensors.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
- Experience with statistical process control and Design of Experiments (DOE) methodologies for process optimization.
- Understanding of regulatory requirements and guidelines for IVD product development.
- Knowledge of Quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA) procedures for microfluidic cartridge manufacturing and testing.
- Understanding of materials science and surface modification techniques for microfluidic cartridge fabrication and functionalization.
