Associate Vice President - Taxation

JOB SUMMARY:
The AVP - Taxation is responsible for leading the tax function within the organization, ensuring compliance with all tax regulations, optimizing tax strategies, and supporting the company's financial goals. This role involves managing tax compliance, planning, reporting, and risk management activities, and providing strategic tax advice to senior management.

REPORTING:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Tax Compliance:
Oversee the preparation and filing of federal, state, and local tax returns.
Ensure compliance with all relevant tax laws and regulations.
Keep abreast of changes in tax legislation and update processes accordingly.
Tax Planning and Strategy:
Develop and implement tax strategies to minimize tax liabilities and maximize tax benefits.
Provide guidance on the tax implications of business activities, including mergers and acquisitions, investments, and corporate restructuring.
Conduct tax research and planning to support business initiatives and decision-making.
Tax Reporting and Analysis:
Manage the tax provision and tax accounting processes, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
Collaborate with the accounting team to ensure proper documentation and reporting of tax positions.
Prepare tax-related financial statements and disclosures.
Audit and Risk Management:
Coordinate and manage tax audits and inquiries from tax authorities.
Develop and maintain effective tax risk management strategies and internal controls.
Respond to tax notices and resolve tax issues in a timely manner.
Leadership and Team Development:
Lead, mentor, and develop the tax team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
Set performance goals, conduct performance reviews, and provide feedback and training to team members.
Promote collaboration and knowledge sharing within the team and across departments.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with finance, legal, and other departments to integrate tax considerations into business operations.
Support strategic initiatives and projects with tax planning and analysis.
Communicate complex tax issues and strategies to non-tax professionals and senior management.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Chartered Accountant with 6-7 years' experience in tax, with a strong background in corporate tax.
In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
Proven experience in tax compliance, planning, and reporting.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated leadership and team management abilities.
Proficiency in tax software and financial reporting systems.

PREFERRED SKILLS:
Experience in a public accounting firm or large corporate tax department.
Knowledge of international tax regulations and issues.
Advanced understanding of tax accounting principles and practices.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
