    About the Foundation

Nirvikalpa Integrated Therapy Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation committed to evolving integrative, culturally grounded mental health care for India. Our work bridges modern psychology and psychiatry with mind–body medicine and Indian contemplative traditions, with a strong emphasis on clinical depth, ethical practice, and contextual relevance.

We work across urban, semi-urban, and rural contexts, supporting both individuals and communities through therapy, training, and capacity-building.

    Role Description

We are seeking a full-time Psychologist to join the Foundation team in a hybrid role that combines clinical work, training, and outreach.

This role offers a unique opportunity to be trained and supervised by Dr Shyam Bhat and to engage deeply with integrative therapeutic approaches that are being actively developed and adapted for Indian populations.

In addition to individual psychotherapy, the role includes training outreach and field workers in basic psychological skills and participating in occasional field visits to rural or community sites to provide psychotherapy services and supervision.

    We currently have 2 vacancies.

    Key Responsibility

    • Provide individual psychotherapy using an integrative, mind–body-informed approach

    • Participate in advanced training and supervision in integrative therapies

    • Deliver psychotherapy-oriented training and capacity-building sessions for outreach workers and field staff

    • Offer clinical input and therapy services during periodic field visits to rural or community-based sites

    • Contribute to the development of culturally relevant therapy frameworks, training modules, and clinical protocols

    • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including psychiatrists, psychologists, and community workers

    Qualifications

    • MPhil or PhD in Clinical Psychology / Counselling Psychology

    • Minimum 5–7 years of clinical experience

    • Strong grounding in psychotherapy and case formulation

    • Interest in community mental health and capacity-building

    • Openness to learning integrative, mind–body, and Indian-contextual approaches

    • Ability to work flexibly across clinic, training, and field settings

    • Strong communication and teaching skills

    What We Offer

    • Intensive clinical training and ongoing supervision

    • Exposure to integrative psychotherapy models tailored for India

    • Meaningful clinical and community impact without high-volume clinical pressure

    • A reflective, learning-oriented environment with scope for long-term growth

    • Opportunity to contribute to shaping mental health practice at a systemic level
