    LOCATION: Chennai

    SHITF: Morning Shift

    ROLE: will provide after-hours support and monitoring for my platform team.

    JOB SUMMARY

    • The platform engineer is responsible for deploying, troubleshooting and maintaining platform resources (infrastructure, networking, infrastructure as code).
    • The platform engineer will be required to perform application, server, database maintenance, and data analysis as well as creating health and monitoring reports.
    • The person in this position will be required to lead and participate in projects, prioritize, and plan their work and work of others.
    • The Platform Engineer will also be an active partner in working with the business to provide value through technology.
    • The person in this position demonstrates an ability to manage ambiguity, applies knowledge of the business to advance organizational goals, and comfortably navigates complex policy, people, and process-related organizational dynamics.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    (In order of importance)

    • Responsible for deploying, maintaining and troubleshooting core business applications including application servers, associated hardware or endpoints, and databases.
    • Responsible for installing and configuring software as required.
    • Responsible for performing system maintenance, monitoring system activity, gathering system statistics, follow up on reported errors and alarms.
    • Responsible for providing after-hours on call support for production emergencies and escalating issues.
    • Proactively analyzes system for finding root cause of issues as well as analyzing existing and new use case configurations
    • Responsible for maintaining and improving all application and database monitoring
    • Proactively seeks systems improvements by performing regular performance monitoring and capacity analysis; recommend systems upgrades and hardening as appropriate.
    • Responsible for documenting all issues and resolution steps using the help desk ticketing system.
    • Provide technical mentorship to team members by providing SME expertise.
    • Responsible for maintaining inventory of all hardware and software resources and parts.
    • Works on cross-functional projects with other IT groups
    • Oversee and work with outside vendors and other business units as needed.
    • Responsible for leading and participating in project activities such as software rollouts, systems upgrades and hardware replacement.
    • Responsible for application troubleshooting / escalated desktop support responsibilities where applicable
    • Works with key stakeholders to deliver business value using creative and effective approaches.
    • Other duties as assigned

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Bachelor's degree from accredited four-year college or university; plus 3-4 plus years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    • Cloud Best Practices and proven experience
    • AWS Certifications is a plus
    • Terraform or similar infrastructure-as-code experience
    • Boomi or similar integration platform experience
    • Strong scripting/automation experience
    • Container and Container platform experience (i.e. Kubernetes or similar)
    • API Management experience (i.e. Apigee or similar)
    • Excellent customer service skills
    • Self-starter with dedication to quality and ability to work with minimal supervision
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work accordingly
    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to gather and process substantial amounts of data
    • Strong presentation, documentation, and communication skills
    • Experience working in a structured, process-driven environment utilizing an ITSM ticket tool
    • Advanced knowledge of TCP/IP networking, and related network services (i.e. DNS, SMTP, DHCP, etc.)
    • Extensive knowledge of Active Directory concepts and administration
    • Some experience with the ability to manage and troubleshoot Windows environments preferred.
    • Some experience with the ability to manage and troubleshoot Linux environments preferred.
    • Programming experience a plus but not required (.net, c#, powershell)
    • DevSecOps experience is a plus
    • Clear and concise communication
    • Ability to follow instructions and facilitate troubleshooting sessions.

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS*

    • Certifications specific to System Administrator area of focus are a strong advantage but not required (MCSE/MCITP, CCNA, etc.)
