    Description

    Strategic Responsibilities:


    • Formulate the IR / ER strategy and architecture to ensure healthy and cordial industrial relations environment in the Cluster


    • Support in formulation of various organization wide ER policies in line with applicable Government guidelines and directives


    • Contribute inputs on workforce deployment, rewards, performance management , training and skills enhancement to fulfil the overall productivity agenda for USL


    • Design and govern the philosophy of deploying contract labour and various associated factors such as workforce ratio (FTE to Contract), periodicity of deployment and other legal considerations


    • Lead ER Projects for the Cluster


    • Lead Plant Closures as per planned manufacturing optimization plans; Anchor seamless workforce management in the plant closure context in the cluster

    Employee Relations:


    • Ensure pro-active LTS and templated manning for all Plants


    • Drive ring fencing initiatives for the units at corporate level by mapping all plants from the viewpoint of external environment and trade union management complexity


    • Mentor Unit HR in the resolution of specific disciplinary or grievance cases, including acting as an arbiter between the workman/ union and executive / management, when required


    •Lead large scale negotiations along with Field HR Supply in resolving critical or sensitive topics with the objective of creating a win-win situation for all


    • Advise Unit Heads / Unit leadership teams on appropriate procedures for conducting negotiations and on the special regulations relating to employment and compensation / benefits agreements


    • Examine, evaluate and submit proposals to the Management for various requests received from the Union for decisions


    • Do comprehensive study and continuous monitoring of deployment of outsourced manpower, understanding risk from statutory compliance point of view and creating robust mitigation plan


    • Develop connect with external environment, trade union & communities through initiatives like periodic meets, community outreach programs etc.


    • On invitation by Unit HR , interact with the state level Government authorities to ensure harmonious plant operations and build appreciation of USL's business and its contribution to workmen's welfare

    Compliance & Stat Adherence:


    • Develop and execute statutory compliance review mechanism for the plants and monitor progress; Facilitate Unit HR to implement compliance norms in partnership with vendors / service providers


    • Conduct periodic compliance audit at the Units to ensure consistent implementation and take corrective action as required; Guide the Unit HR leads on amendments in labour laws and carrying out seamless changes in the processes and policies

    Workforce Engagement:


    • Provide inputs and periodically review the Employee Welfare strategy to ensure employee engagement levels and hygiene requirements


    • Mentor Unit HR on welfare matters including Transportation, Canteen, Rewards & Recognition schemes, Settlement of death claims

    TYPICAL ROLE REQUIREMENTS

    Qualification: MBA in HR

    Experience: 12-15 years' experience

    Knowledge & skills:


    • High level of professionalism, integrity and commitment with superior IT skills


    • Experience in business partnering with executives


    • Demonstrating the ability and desire to build high performing relationships


    • Provide pro-active, pragmatic advice in furtherance of the business agenda


    • Demonstrated ability to navigate in matrix / operating environments
