  • Understand the L&T Heavy Civil Infrastructure IC EHS Integrated Management System (IMS) and Project EHS Plan
  • Understand & promote L&T L.I.F.E. (Live – Injury – Free – Each day) program and Zero Harm Vision.
  • Stop work if unsafe practices are witnessed and report it to the concerned to initiate corrective action.
  • Promote a 'Don't Walk by & Commitment to Action attitude' at all times.
  • Support Project EHS In-charge Operations in his role.
  • Responsible and accountable for the performance of Site EHS stewards within his area.
  • Co-ordinate the Risk Assessment exercises in their respective area along with Engineer in-charge in preparation of Safe Work Methods for all activities. Appraise the status to EHS in-charge for updating project risk management register.
  • Make the schedule and do the monthly inspection of all type of equipment, machinery, power tools and issue GREEN CARDs for fit vehicles and RED TAG for unfit vehicles in their respective area.
  • Monthly electrical inspections shall be jointly conducted with P&M Electrical Engineers.
  • Do the area wise EHS inspection every week with reference to Safe Work Methods & EHS Inspection checklist. Make weekly compilation report and submit to Project EHS In-charge.
  • Actively propagate EHS in their respective area by hoardings, posters and awareness sessions
  • Witness and acknowledge the Pre-start verification and Briefing to work force. Conduct work permit audits to verify the compliance against stipulated controls mentioned in work permit on daily basis.
  • Organize and deliver EHS training when requested.
  • Generate an awareness of EHS as an integral part of good management.
  • Maintain effective communications with the Site EHS In-charge to ensure an adequate flow of EHS information relating to the L&T Heavy civil & Infrastructure IC EHS performance.
  • Accompany Engineers/supervisors on EHS Tours.
  • Support the EHS monitoring function as per Project EHS Plan (Inspection).
  • Report all incidents and conduct investigation of 6 to 8 category and support incident investigations of 1 to 5 category incidents.
  • Attend EHS meetings when requested.
  • Maintain and update of the L&T L.I.F.E. (Live – Injury – Free – Each day) EHS notice boards in their locations when requested.
  • Shall attend EHS Orientation before going in to the field.
  • Shall fully understand the L&T Corporate EHS Policy & Project EHS Policy, HCI IC EHS IMS procedures, Construction Environment Health and Safety standards and guidelines & Project EHS plans.
  • Shall be aware and fully comply with L&T Golden Safety Rules & emergency procedures.
  • Shall know their EHS Task and Targets set by the project manager/supervisors.
  • Shall take reasonable care for their personal EHS and that of fellow employees and anyone else who may be affected by acts or omissions and co-operate with others in carrying out their duties.
  • Shall ensure that he has received adequate EHS training as per project EHS training matrix to adequately carry out their job function.
  • Shall ensure that proper Risk assessment is made and communicated to them before receiving any task from managers / supervisors. Take responsibilities of permits requirements relevant to your work activities and implement the control measures identified.
  • Shall wear appropriate personal protective clothing correctly and use equipment at all times as instructed.
  • Shall report all hazards, unsafe conditions and/or unsafe equipment to immediate supervisors.
  • Shall stop and / or report unsafe practices or potentially unsafe practices witnessed at work.
  • Shall report all accidents, incidents and near misses whether or not they result in any injury or damage to immediate supervisors.
  • Shall ensure that the work place is kept clean and tidy and that escape routes are kept clear at all times.
  • Never, under any circumstances, work in an unsafe manner. Don't start your work unless you are made clear off what to be done and what not to be.
  • Never interfere with or misuse anything provided for their EHS or welfare.
  • Always ask for assistance and guidance on any matter that relates to the EHS at work.
  • Employees are reminded that a breach of EHS policy / procedures could possibly result in disciplinary action being taken by the management.
  • Shall attend EHS Orientation before going in to the field.
