Job Summary
The QC Assistant Manager is responsible for ensuring that all raw materials, work-in-process materials, and finished cello tape products meet established quality standards and customer specifications. This role involves managing quality control processes, supervising inspection teams, implementing quality systems, and driving continuous improvement in product quality and process control.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Assurance and Control
- Develop and implement quality control procedures and inspection standards for raw materials such as BOPP film and adhesives, WIP, and finished goods
- Oversee testing of physical and chemical parameters including adhesion strength, thickness, tackiness, elongation, and peel strength
- Monitor in-line quality during production to minimize defects, rework, and customer complaints
- Ensure timely dispatch of quality-approved samples to customers
Inspection and Testing
- Supervise incoming raw material inspection, in-process checks, and final product testing
- Ensure availability and calibration of testing equipment such as GSM testers, peel testers, and tack testers
- Maintain detailed test reports and ensure full batch traceability
- Prepare weekly and monthly quality reports
Quality Systems and Compliance
- Implement and maintain quality management systems such as ISO 9001, 5S, and GMP where applicable
- Ensure compliance with internal SOPs and customer-specific quality requirements
- Prepare for and lead internal and external audits
Customer Complaint Handling
- Investigate customer complaints and product non-conformities
- Identify root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
- Provide technical support to sales and customer service teams on quality-related matters
Team Management
- Lead, train, and supervise QC inspectors, lab technicians, and quality engineers
- Promote a strong quality-focused culture across production and support departments
Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date quality records, reports, and test certificates
- Generate and present monthly quality performance reports, KPIs, and improvement plans to management
Qualifications and Experience
- B.Sc or B.Tech in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, MBA, or related field
- 5 to 10 years of experience in quality control within a manufacturing industry
- Experience in adhesive tapes, packaging, or polymer-based products preferred
- Hands-on knowledge of quality tools, statistical techniques such as SPC, and testing procedures for pressure-sensitive adhesive tapes
